I have seen huge fps drops while running on recrud myself, maybe plays 20-30 lower than normal. But even with these problems and the lag spike things, when it is running good... it is very nice.

 

 

your client side fps isnt effected by any server you go on. If your fps is lower it has to be something on your end. But I agree we need to find these lag spikes, because other than that the server plays amazing for me.

Same here..Just some spike issues and a few choke spikes but that could be from the same issue maybe.

The only thing that makes me wonder is the fact that a2g was awesome in the testing stages too, maybe even nicer than these, then over time it declined. Is that us? Is that the server companies doing a bait and switch to hook us in? None of the above? I dunno....just one of those things that makes me go...hmmmmmm.

This has occurred to me too, and it makes me wonder if it would be better to split the servers between 2 GSPs. I'm of course completely ignorant of any cost breaks we get by renting several servers, so that might be a really dumb idea.

My suggestion is to give all our admins rcon to Recrud, strip it of anything beyond CSS, and run it for a day. As soon as I know I have some admins to babysit the server via HLSW, we'll do that.

I know how to use RCON and HLSW. I think there are really only a handful of commands an admin would really need anyway: banid, writeid, kick, status. Is there a cvar for nextmap (no I don't mean nextlevel)?

Fatty n LA's... I know it is tough and a pain but I figured it was good to add comments even if they were bad. Not just complaining for complaining sake y'know.

i get fps drops once an a while too it generally gets all slow and puts me down to like 15 or less per second

i STRONGLY disagree that the fps is client side, i have plenty of power to spare, and i ran the online stress test maxed out at 120fps.

 

I still wonder if its a chicago thing, or our issue with the stats and mani, i guess recrude will tell the tale on the later.

 

If memory serves...wasnt beetlemod easier on the load than mani? And as far as stats go.....they are useless..i would rather see the servers lean and mean without them.

I dunno, but I know it isnt my machine, and the whole server was experiencing it at the same time, and its intermittent, maybe you havent been there during an episode?

 

But I know it isnt all of our machines, its either them or the network connecting to them somewhere.

 

Although, I did play just now for about an hour and it played beautiful.

Whatever it is, its defintitly "seems" to be affecting fps client side, and also did so on the old immut.

I think the far right column in net_graph is the one that shows updates sent/recevied per second. That number for out should always stay around or below the lesser of your FPS and cl_cmdrate. My best guess for the left column that you're referring to would be size, although that's only a guess.

BTW, Immutable played awesome for quite a while tonight!!!

 

Played for couple hours, 1 small burp, nothing like before, and no 20-sceond lag stuff at all.

 

Flipside: wasnt full most of that time, so not totally fair comment. But still, was GREAT!!!

just figured out that you guys are talking about the same time period. The lag, high ping and fps drop is during the same time periods... well yeah when you have a 300 ping you are going to get bad fps and a jumpy game.

we are working diligently to fix this small oil leak on the ferrari.

Someone remind me to post my config file tonight when I get home.

 

Here's why. I haven't noticed any drop in fps(other than on nuke, which is a fps killer and even then it only drops to the 60's). High pings are the only thing I've really encountered on occasion. I did notice some high choke at times. But to be perfectly honest the choke didn't seem to hurt anything. If I had had that same kind of choke on the A2G servers I would've been dead in the water. I've turned alot of the "goodies" off in my config(although I still have shadows turned on it helps me find all you little campers :D ) Game still looks good to me and I don't sacrifice performance.

 

Be patient folks(I mean everyone not just our users) there's always something that needs to be worked out when switching to another provider. :peace:

I've asked Fatty to do this to Recrud. I can monitor it via hlsw when I'm at home. Not sure when it will take affect.

Admins who know how can use rcon directly.

 

There are no reserves.

 

Took off our two bonus slots so as to only have 21 to be closer in size for comparison.

My rates tend to flucuate on recru. When there's alot of action going on (even if I'm in the next room and I am not rendering anything) and the server's full, my in and out rates drop to about 30 while I start choking at 50. The server is very fast and responsive when there's about 18 people though.

 

Is there any reason why out packets (cl_cmdrate) is only 60 and not 100 like updaterate? I think hit registration would receive an enormous boost if we could send and receive 100/s.

Played on Hyper Recrud last night.

 

Lag Spikes happened but didn't bother me cept for the delayed headshots from mah scout.

 

I got several loss spikes up to 20+, but I didn't run pingplots or traceroute while I was there so I dont know if it was one of my hops (the usual suspect) or the server (not likely).

 

Honestly, some maps played wonderfully...but that was only cause my score was 15-2. Any other time its like "ftw, register!" and the ONLY conclusion I can come to is that I CANT conclude anything about registration. I'm finding that I'm too biased about registration depending on my score that map.

Your packets sent will almost never go above your FPS.

 

Perhaps, but I could be staring at a wall and getting 120fps while my out packets are still stuck at 60. :(
