yes and then I'll pay you $15 for the copy of xp x64 ;)

he'll need that copy of xp 64 if he ever needs to reinstall Vista though...that's what I hate about Upgrade copies.

I can't believe I forgot about SurplusComputers.com...this is the place I got Nero Ultimate for like $10.

Can you buy this (27.99), and then this (249.99) to equal this (378.99) for like, 100 dollars less?

Why go through all that trouble when you can do this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16832116213

Or this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16832116215

Of course, be warned these are OEM copies, licensed for one machine and with some other restrictions befitting an OEM, but if that fits your requirements it is even better on the budget.

Do you own a copy of Windows now? ANY copy from Windows 2000 on? If you do, that should satisfy your upgrade requirements as well. Old Dell discs/CoAs, anything like that?

so when it says that version "can't be transferred to another pc" does that mean that if I change my video card and motherboard...I can't use that copy of Vista anymore?

I'm not sure how this works.

The OEM copies are "supposed" to be linked to your motherboard. Change it out, and Vista would have a problem. But I've HEARD that if your old motherboard "dies", then you can call MS and they'll help you reinstall it/activate it with the new motherboard. A little bit of a pain, but if it works it'll save you money.

got the 64bit version installed yesterday. Went to my pals house to get everything updated.

So far the only thing that doesn't work that I would like to is my modem. It's a Zonet 56k modem and the drivers that came with it won't install on XP 64 and I can't find any drivers specifically for 64bit. Anyone know a good place to look for something like that?

Also my Half-Life 2 install disk won't work either...I have to actually download Steam from the website and install it (which is annoying because it means I have to go to someones house where I can get broadband for a day).

other than that...I'd say it's working perfectly fine so far.

what chipset is it running? Motorolla or conextant? Also a model number would be helpful or even better would be the numbers from the actual chip on the side of it.

try these:

http://www.zonetusa.com/ProductDownload/ZF...Driver_XP64.zip

If worse comes to worst give me a holler, I have a few lying around that will prolly work. I know I have a USR that will work with it.
