Tracid May 8, 2007 Share Tracid Member May 8, 2007 The heat is starting to kill me in SoCal, is there any A/C expert that knows anything about portable A/C that doesn't require window installation but put somewhere in the room like a fan but works almost as good as a window A/C? Sgt. Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass May 8, 2007 Share Sgt. Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass Member May 8, 2007 Sorry to say, but there is such device Tracid. The AC either has to be in the window or outside the house. Since the AC works by removing heat from the air, and dumping it to an external location. Basically if you tried to put it in the center of the zoom you would just circulate the air. Gond May 11, 2007 Share Gond Member May 11, 2007 They sell free standing AC units but, as said above, you have to have the vent tube going outside. Course you can either do that via a window or a hole in the wall much like a dryer vent. wow...home depot has 7 of them listed on the website. Just do a search on air conditioner.
