bushwack November 13, 2010 Share bushwack Member November 13, 2010 There exists a place called Dead Wind Cavern. It is here I learned that stuff will follow you out of a section if you run away. Also. You shouldn't go in Dead Wind Cavern. One quest directed me to a irradiated vault that was filled with ghouls. I think I was around level 12-15 and they totally kicked my butt. That's one quest I gave up on. Anyone come across the area filled with Deathclaws? Yeah it's crazy. I had to take the long way around.
Flitterkill November 13, 2010 Author Share Flitterkill GC Board Member November 13, 2010 That Deathclaw area is just up the highway when you get outside Goodsprings and is the reason why when you start the game you make that long horseshoe route to loop around to get to New Vegas. I poked my head into that vault you mentioned and then left as Boone was a pain in the donkey running all over the place. Just to the west of that vault is a pumping station where you can pick up a quest related to that joint. Another one on my punch list to finish up now that I'm more up in level. Dead Wind Cave does not have ghouls inside. I wish it did.

VooDooPC November 13, 2010 Share VooDooPC Member November 13, 2010 If you into the vault with the ghouls you can still do the mission even if you don't actually have the mission. So I got close to the generator and it was like, "Destroy the generator to help the blah blah farm" and I'm like, "What in the hell are you talking about game?" boiler November 15, 2010 Share boiler Member November 15, 2010 Why do I get the feeling that Dead Wind Cave is filled with Cazadores? I think I went in there once. I also think that I hate Cazadores even more than Deathclaws. I do still stare longingly at all the toy cars I find, wishing I could make another dart gun. Vault 34 is the one you guys are talking about with all the ghouls, not a recommended stop until you are closer to level 18+ and have Boone with you. The rewards of clearing it out, however, are quite substantial
Flitterkill November 15, 2010 Author Share Flitterkill GC Board Member November 15, 2010 Level 30 Places I've not been: Boomers, anywhere in New Vegas minus the NE hospital, Crimson Caravan, and a walkthrough of Freeside (but no casino entries), that mutant mountain top, the deathclaw mining area, anything to do with Caesar's fort, anything by the SE airstrip area, the Dam, and on and on and on... Vaults done: Jungle, Sacrificial Overseers, Fiends, still need to wrap up the pseudo-Powder Gangers vault but have been inside it. All others still to do. Companions: ED-E and Boone. ED-E not upgraded yet and I just wrapped up the Bitter Springs bit with Boone and will probably tuck him away for awhile to dick around with other companions and the quests they give. Dead Wind Cave: Not cazadors though I hate them too. I'll update later with my stats and perks which other than a book increase or an earned perk I'm finished. Flitterkill November 17, 2010 Author Share Flitterkill GC Board Member November 17, 2010 The Boomers were a remarkably fast section overall, getting rep with them is impossibly easy. Still don't know where that girl's bear is though. Word to the wise to those with ED-E: much like the camp area of Camp McClarren, there are a few Boomers (near the front gate?) that get freaked by ED-E and attack. Which means ED-E fights back, and this time your other companion joins in unlike at Camp McClarren, which means now the entire Boomer population goes hostile, which means you get to reload. I just stayed well away from the front gate after it happened and was alright. Finally talked to Worf at the mutant ski lodge but did not wander about as I think I or Boone have NCR armor on (and the Nightkin do not like) but at least I can fast travel there now. Never took the explorer perk so still enjoying wandering about looking at the compass for hollow triangles. Every now and then a random area anywhere on the map has Deathclaws. Kind of annoying. No Flitter you don't play Fallout like that. When you die, your dead. You need to start over if that happens.

VooDooPC November 18, 2010 Share VooDooPC Member November 18, 2010 I haven't had any problems yet with companions going bonkers and attacking people randomly. Only when it makes sense, like Boone with the Legion. Also, RIP Boone, I stabbed you in the face because you called me slaver scum.
Flitterkill November 19, 2010 Author Share Flitterkill GC Board Member November 19, 2010 You are slaver scum. Anyways, Vault 33 is a grind - a short one but a grind nevertheless. Left both Boone and ED-E at the Gunrunners, cleared out inventory space, and then went to rock it solo. With Pushy (unique power/displacer glove) regular ghouls are one and done. Vault security often took two punches to go down, no biggie. As expected, burned through a lot of Rad-X and Radaway. Wasn't expecting the guns along with the ghouls and the Overseer. After the first shots startled me, I backed up into the hall, tossed a single frag grenade in, and that was that for all but the Overseer...who doesn't move from his elevated chair. So...tough luck for him Too bad for the farmers as I saved the survivors - at this point not needing/getting anymore xp so an easy choice. At this point, since I apparently am swapping massive buggage/crashing for random companion glitches, who should magically appear as I am making my way to the armory to get my swag? Why yes! The companions I had waiting for me back at the Gunrunners magically appear. Why? Why not? And pathfinding hilarity ensues. Probably caused me to eat a few more Rad products then I would have liked but got them out eventually. The armory is appropriately named. Just saying. Still haven't hit the strip yet. I did as well, but it was MUCH easier after raiding the Vault 32 armory and picking the "Very Hard" lock on the one gun case in there. Did you take a seat and have the drink they offered there? Flitterkill November 21, 2010 Author Share Flitterkill GC Board Member November 21, 2010 Well Tabitha's wacky reign of terror is over with. Easy when you're level 30 Nice to get Raul for the 100 repair work; now I can ditch the old lady at the scrapyard. Starting to run out of wasteland to meander around in, might just be time to hit the strip...

Starting to run out of wasteland to meander around in, might just be time to hit the strip... Oooh dang. Wonder if that was a bad choice to wait till the end. The Strip was somewhat a let down, all the hype, but there really isn't much there. You should be able to breeze through the main quest at level 30, and have many of the quests already done, I did at level 20. But good news! Time for Fallout 3! Go ahead and get the collector's edition, your gonna want the Broken Steel addon to go from level 20 to 30. VooDooPC November 21, 2010 Share VooDooPC Member November 21, 2010 (edited) I've been trying to play my character as a jerk. I kill random people walking around, do the bad missions but I'm still "Savior of the Wasteland" I don't know how to be evil! Edit: I also built this character around joining the Brotherhood and getting some power armor but I glitched the quest so now it won't progress. :'( Edited November 21, 2010 by VooDooPC

boiler December 14, 2010 Share boiler Member December 14, 2010 (edited) I just reached level 30 on my second character, focusing on converntional weapons and explosives after going almost exclusively energy weapons on the first time through. I have found that between my silenced sniper rifle and upgraded hunting shotgun, there isn't much that I can't handle. Except the legendary deathclaw. Holy hell. Stay faaaar away from Dead Wind Cavern. I thought clearing out the first 6 Deathclaws in that place was a little tough, then BOOM, two hits from the big guy and I go down. If I ever work up the nerve to go back in there, I'm bringing my Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch with me. Then I'm counting to five. Speaking of which, anyone else take the wild wasteland trait? What was the craziest/funniest thing you've come across thus far? Edited December 14, 2010 by boiler

I'm playing my second game and I 'm using the wild wasteland trait. I was around level 10 and never seen anything crazy or funny. But I went into Vegas and ended up in the Ultralux, I got the tainted meat quest and while I went to investigate the investigator the the whole freaking Ultralux clan came after me. Needless to say I killed everyone wearing a mask. Was this normal to the quest???
