» While the new engine has all sorts of fancy features, it's still designed to work on lower-end machines. Apparently a 700mhz processor and a video card capable of running DX6 is enough, although a 2ghz with a GeForce4 is recommended.

Sounds like it's time to upgrade the old C-64

You guys are forgetting that HL2 has been in the works for many years now. They just have been super tight on security about it so 5 months of it in the public's eye seems like a short time. Especially when compared to other *cough*Duke*cough* vaporware.

*dusts off the board posting page*

Hey guys, long time no see!

Those are some awesome screenies. If they do bump the release date, they'll probably aim for the holidays. If it still isn't done by then, they'll probably release it anyway to get a ton of sales then come out with a patch a few weeks later. But who cares about bugs? If screenshots can look that good, imagine what the real thing must be like.

I doubt if Valve will release Half-Life 2 with bugs just to get the holiday sales.  They have been known, like Blizzard, to release the game "when it is done", and no sooner.

Well seeing as they have only released one game ever they dont exactly have the history of Blizzard :P

I'm betting that it really will be Sept. 30th to prove to the world that Valve's word is golden and to show a 100% success rate on launches. Out of 2 releases of course. ;)

It would be nice it they follow it up with CS2 later in the year to grab the Xmas market. B)
