Contradiction May 14, 2003 Share Contradiction Member May 14, 2003 Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics: 29 have been accused of spousal abuse 7 have been arrested for fraud 19 have been accused of writing bad checks 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses 3 have done time for assault 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges (This is understandable) 8 have been arrested for shoplifting 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year Can you guess which organization this is? It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group of Idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line. Guest zerodamage May 14, 2003 Share Guest zerodamage Guests May 14, 2003 I wouldn't take all of those numbers as facts. 84 for drunk driving? While it is possible I have my doubts.

Chief May 15, 2003 Share Chief Member May 15, 2003 ->Xterminator,May 14 2003, 04:21 PM] how does it make you feel when you hear about the people that help run your country? It makes me proud not that they beat their wives, but that they fund aircraft carriers. And Apaches. And F15s. They may bounce checks and get accused of many things...but as long as they're funding this...Well, heck, it can't be much worse than many of the things that we can say about many of the world's leaders, dictators, and power-holders. Certainly we don't need to start a quest for scandal, as many of the world's nations have skeletons in their coffers. I'll stop short of lambasting leadership (despotic, corrupt, or less-than-perfect-leaders-who-try) and leave it at giggling at global fleets. And air forces. And armies. Personally, I think I'd feel worse knowing that my nation's fleet serves "all over the world with US Battle Groups or Multinational Interdiction Forces" [ http://www.navy.forces.gc.ca/mspa_fleet/fl...leet_home_e.asp ] than fretting over an elected official's personal record. But, I'm much more extremist than many in the community. They are there to establish policy, and I don't think that our policy is shaking out all that bad in the global balance. Of course, I'll revise my opinions when my corrupt leadership knocks us off of the world pedestal and we no longer lead the world in most everything.
