  1. When I bought the Half Life 2 Silver package for 70 bucks a few years ago, every game that Valve ever made came with it. It was a good buy.
  2. Yup. If its already formatted, just assign it a drive letter and you're good to go. If its a new drive you'll want to format it to ntfs.
  3. All I have to say is I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of that awp!
  4. Thats what I'm thinking. The event viewer (eventvwr) is a great way to narrow down problems.
  5. I'm in the Cisco networking program right now. Sometimes it's difficult, but I'm beginning to enjoy it.
  6. It could be anything. Your mobo/chipset has everything to do with performance. AMD 64 2.2 ghz 2 gigs corsair ram x800 GTO ECS motherboard I was having some reliability issues with my chipset, so I got a new DFI nf3 motherboard. My FPS in source went from 40-60 to 100-200. It's incredible.
  7. I don't have any of those problems.
  8. I've never heard of half the noobs on that list.
  9. i've assumed all this time he was talkin about cs:s. if it's cs then you're right. just about anything runs original cs. duke, you're right it doesn't add up. my fps on an ati x550 with a 3200+ was easily 100 in most places at 1024 with gfx on low. rarely went below 30. with a sempron and a similar or even lower card you should still be averaging 40-60. My bad, I meant source.
  10. I wonder what Toshiba would think of these responses. I also love how she needs to hold it to prevent it from breaking her neck.
  11. If all he wants is to play CS, he won't need much. The first gaming pc I had was an AMD sempron 1.5ghz (socket A), 512 megs of mismatched ram, and a ati 9250 128m video card. It ran CS just fine at low settings and 1024x768.

    IE7

The browser seems to be slower than FF, and has a clunky interface (even though they tried to simplify things by removing menus). I believe that Vista will not have menus, or at least not many. All I know is that FF is much better.
  13. That brings back memories. My high school math teacher showed us that.
  14. If you live in Ohio, you will be used to all kinds of weather. it ranges from -10 to 100 degrees here.
  15. It does (sortof). There will be a small symbol in the upper right corner of your browser when an update is ready.
  16. I use Wavepad for editing. I had no experience editing audio before I used this program, and it was easy as pie. Here is the Cnet download page. With this program you can divide, add fade in, fade out, noise reduction, adjust volume settings, etc. You can also save your file to whatever audio format you want; you name it, it's there.
  17. I hated EA way before they pulled this stunt, but now I will never buy from them again.
  18. Everest is a great diagnostic program. Its free, but its also been discontinued by the developer. If you search, you will find a site that hosts it.
  19. I have always wanted a network drive. Can they also be used as a standard external with USB ore Firewire? That would be ideal. As for me, I use a Western Digital 160gb external, and it works very well. It has the dual backup feature, but i've never used it.
  20. Cool! I had to use "open with" and select firefox from the list. Works like a charm.
  21. My raptors are idling now at 23-24C, so I would say no more than mid 30s load. Like Cujo said, leave enough space between the drives for ventilation. I have an intake fan in front of both my raptors that keeps them cool at all times.
  22. Your case has the biggest influence on temperature. That and the heatsink. Anything above 50 needs some attention. Right now my A64 @2.2 is running at 37c at idle. Huge case, and several fans.
  23. HAHA, startled me a little. Im not sure what scared me most, the evil face or spongebob at the end.
  24. I have dual raptors, and when you RAID 0 them, they are hella fast. Installed XP pro in under 8 minutes from start to finish. Loads maps very quickly in CS. I'm always the first person in game, waiting for other players to join.
  25. I have that same one for my laptop. Great pad, just a little small. For my desktop, I use a huge generic mouse pad. It measures 14" x 18". Since you can use almost any surface with my laser g5, it works perfectly.
