Ummm... yes? That was confusing. I will try to be on this tues PM. The wife is due in a few days, so time is of the essence when it comes to getting some gaming in the evening hours. I'll just slip her a glass of red wine and a warm bath, game with you guys, and come back upstairs later like nothing happened. FTW!

I heard as many as 14 new maps, both versus and campaign mode. That would kick butt! Not that the orig maps are crap, but new ones would make this game even better.

Still playing...weekly. Mostly at night. Friend me through steam (tekmet). I'll hold your hand, but not in some creepy kinda way.

1. Bioshock 2. UT2004 3. Crysis 4. Left 4 Dead 5. Call of Duty 4 I don't think that is any particular order, even though it is numbered. It really was a tossup between Bioshock and Left 4 dead for top honors. Sorry UT2004...since the downfall of the community, you have to take a lower tier.

I will check it out... How did you calculate fps? Did demo do it for you, or did you use fraps or some such?

That doesn't seem right at all. A friend of mine is running a Geforce GTX 260 and claims to run fine with max settings at 1920x1200...wait doesn't the 4870x2 have 2gb of DDR5? I think maybe his card is way too much for that resolution he's running. Probably his processor is the bottleneck. I will try this texture pack after I beat game. That is what I did with oblivion...and that texture pack upgrade did drop my fps by about 20%.

I think the fun of achievements is to get them during pretty much normal play. I've had some good teams and tried to get Safety First on advanced, but we always had one or two FF. Just got "Unbreakable" achievement the other day, while not really trying. I was leading a bunch of noobs through their first play of death toll on normal (which is challenging with noobs) and got to the end with 30 health. Wanted to revisit this from a while ago. I read a review a couple of days back on Hardocp about how Farcry2 has been one of the games (shocking!) that actually does better in Vista with DX10 than in XP, DX9. Just thought I would throw that in to see if you could/would test that. Check Hard's website. Pretty interesting. And, anticipating Cujo's thoughts, I'm not using that as an argument for the score delta between us in this game...

if you stopped looking for the start button, things might start speeding up for you. Oh snap! There are actually a lot of mac things I like (the dock for example). But my PC skills are mad-embedded to the point that when I get to work on Monday, I have to reboot my brain. That's what 20 years of PC use gets me (and heck, I even started computing with mac, then moved on).

Ahhh...the good old fashioned "I can't get my mac to eject the &*#$! disc" problem. Glad my PC has a little button next to the tray that will eject disc 100% of the time...and if that fails, a tiny little hole that accepts a little paperclip pry-bar. When I am using my 1 year old core2duo-based mac at work, it still takes me 2x as long to do things as it would on my core2duo-based pc at home. ...that includes 20 seconds to eject a disc...when it does eject a disc. enjoy!

As far as I could tell I was the only that tried Tuesday. It was lonely... Actually I was communicating with bushy, but we couldn't find anyone else...I reloaded, so all my buddies list buddies are gone...I just scan the servers with a decent ping, and then try to find people. I played a bit on omni, but saw no one, but chatted with bush. I will try tonight, after I make dinner and chat up the wife...It is touch and go, as she will be delivering a baby girl soon...so, she doesn't like to sit upstairs alone...very needy. I will try tonight.

Agreed...I had a WS Acer and it was crap for movies, but just okay for games. Lots of backlight bleed, and the viewing angles were not as advertised. I saw a Samsung 26" for $399 today on Cybermonday somewheres...prolly not their best either, but better than Acer. I got my used Dell 2407 for $20 more than the Acer you have linked, and it is miles above it...be patient, and you can find a deal on ebay. Also, those contrast ratios are way overinflated, as there is no standard for contrast and every manufacturer can make up their own benches. GL

I would hold out for a used (but pristine) Dell...for the price you will pay on craigslist or ebay, the 2407 or 2408 are great values...I've had a lot of large monitors, but these have been the best for price/performance/all-around function. IMO

Shame... we're all bored of the game already. Too late. You have short attention span. You said the same thing of COD4 but after a couple months...now L4D after a week... I suggest we all post up steam names so we can play if'n we want. I love this game and find it has a great deal replayability, especially given the dynamic nature of the AI director and the chance combination of 4 live people online. nice nice nice My steam name is Tekmet...add me if you wish!

I've had a Glock model 23 for almost 12 years. Super reliable. Fairly accurate. Tough as nails. Not that expensive. Of all the .40 handguns I've fired, the 23 has been my favorite. It is a bit small if you have big hands, as I do, unless your fingers are skinny (as mine are). Good tuck away piece. I have a really nice molded, lockable conceal holster for it. Very good. I would take the .40 S&W over any 9mm any day.
