  1. For example... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16812609112 14' Cat5e for $1.99 + S&H If you go to a retail store, you'll pay nearly $20 for the same thing except it will be Belkin or something similar. The truth is that, regardless of brand, it is still copper rated for 1 GB/s run through uninsulated rubber/plastic sheaths. I wouldn't place too much importance on brand. On a side note, and to add insult to injury, only (I believe) 4 out of the 8 provided wires are used. The less you pay the better value you're getting, basically--and I mean that beyond the obvious reasons.
  2. Well, thats all right... saves money in the long run.
  3. So uh... is it safe to say that Dew is the winner?
  4. This is true... well, actually, I think Quake was before Blood. I can't quite remember. But Quake was not based on the Doom engine. Half-Life/Counter-Strike was based on the Quake engine.
  5. Wow, I just realized how extremely outrageous those rates are. Around here its like $60/night. I'm poor.
  6. I'm sorry, and I'm not trying to sound rude, but this kind of dumbfounds me... Tents are made out of a vinyl-like material, right? Now, even if you locked the door at the frame... its still made out of a light material that can easily be gotten into if need be, right? Or is this some kind of uber-strength tent?
  7. Well, it appears that all the rooms are sold out at this point (according to online). I just officially got a seat last night/tonight and need somewhere to crash during FF. My car would work, but I hear theres actually a law against that. Anybody have room for one more? Work something out? PS: I am a big guy, but I don't stink... so we can break that stereotype straight away.
  8. Now that I am slated to actually come... Heres my list of games I think we should all install and play: -Quake (Shareware version for those that don't own it) (http://www.idsoftware.com/games/quake/quake/index.php?game_section=demo) -Sauerbraten (a.k.a. Cube 2) (http://sauerbraten.org/) -Nexuiz (http://alientrap.org/nexuiz/) They're all deathmatch... and all free to an extent. Sauerbraten and Nexuiz are both entirely free under the GPL. No ifs, ands, or buts. Quake is a little different, however. There are a couple ideas about Quake. One is using the shareware version and simply going through Quake's original net code. The other option is ezQuake. With the first option, everybody could install on-site. It could be (in theory) hosted on the space heater--erm, I mean sever. With the latter, it would have to be installed BEFORE attending. The bright side of using ezQuake is that the net code is that of QuakeWorld, which is FAR superior. The dark side is everybody having it. It is also entirely free (GPL). ezQuake can be found here: http://ezquake.sourceforge.net/ They all have their good points. Quake is the one that started it all--heck, if it wasn't for Quake, we probably wouldn't even be HAVING this event. With Sauerbraten, its just a great fast-paced deathmatch game inspired by Quake. Period. There is CTF and such, but its deathmatch at heart. Nexuiz is the prettiest of them all. It is based on a HEAVILY, HEAVILY modified version of the Quake engine that has been worked on for years now--since the engine source was released. Thoughts?
  9. In response to the "too many members" part... Please tell me you were thinking WHAM!
  10. Actually, I was the one that wanted the ticket. Assuming its still for sale, that is. Send me an e-mail at "edzo29 at gmail dot com" with however you want to handle it. I've never done a paypal transfer anyhow, and I don't have your info to do it with.
  11. POGs... BRILLIANT! I am almost 98% sure I'm coming, I'll bring mine.
  12. I don't suppose this is still for sale isn't it? Thats a nice $5 discount from what I'll pay at this point. How would we go about making this official assuming you do still have it, anyhow?
  13. You get a free breakfast if you get a room? Wow, I didn't know that. In fact, I have never even stayed at a hotel before.
  14. I have seen around here that UT2004 would be played... did anybody give thought into other games? I have not confirmed that I am indeed going, but I have an idea. Quake (the original and best) has all but become free. I declare that everybody should install Quake (in one form or another) and there be a tournament and/or random games of deathmatch. Thoughts? If people didn't have it installed upon arrival, perhaps hosting it on a computer or two among the network?
  15. Now, I said this on the server last night (in the presence of Allanon and Tyranus) and never got a straight answer or thought... Do we HAVE to have hotel arrangements? Or are we welcome to camp out in our cars? Think about us poor folk!
  16. Spanish never ruins threads... this does:
  17. Oooh, de_facility looks great. Nostalgia from the greatest N64 FPS ever! Texasbank looks interesting, as well.
  18. Congratulations, I salute you, sir. <-- that is as close as I can get to a salute.
  19. Energetic little buggers. Very cute indeed. I want three of them. Or one. One or three, but not two. Baby bunnies rock my wool socks off.

    Mapcycle

So what is the cycle as of tonight? I saw a bunch of new maps, such as beroth_beta. Assassinator said: "My thoughts are that CSS is devolving, instead of being a team-based objective orientated game, it has focused more and more on the deathmatch aspect. Just look at the recent developments such as Gun Game, Zombie Mod, and hey, Deathmatch mod. These mods just support my theory." Well, quite literally, the original source of Counter-Strike was based off of the original Quake engine. Whether Valve wants to acknowledge it or not, its true. And what was Quake but the biggest multiplayer deathmatch game of all time? Its not really devolving, just reverting back to the old standards.
  21. Well, you definitely lost the first round guess with the Pittsburgh and Ottawa... Pittsburgh could only possibly win it in 7. Unfortunately, I can't see my Penguins pulling that off.
  22. I don't know about all the other series' going on right now, but I know the Pittsburgh-Ottawa series is great. The series is 1-1 as of tonight, Pittsburgh beat Ottawa 4-3 after a 6-3 romp from Ottawa on Wednesday night. Pittsburgh got a LOT more physical this game, and played all around better. Fleury also played absolutely amazing. I swear he was velcro. He stopped shots that I wasn't aware were possible to stop. Thumbs up. I'm looking for this series to go to game 7. Pittsburgh rarely wins games without taking it down to the wire, and I don't expect that to change in the playoffs. The "heartattack kids" as they're called here (literally in a recent game--a guy in the crowd had a heartattack when we scored at the last second) have a good chance to go on to the second round, if not all the way. It looks like they just needed to get their feet wet.
  23. Yikes! It's never been above $3.09 here north of Pittsburgh, even a year or so ago when it spiked real high! Right now gas is about $2.79 (87 octane) north of Pittsburgh, and down in Pittsburgh it is around $2.84 or so. There are of course places deep in the 'Burgh that are charging darn near $3.00, but that is isolated.
  24. Of course it works for you, you're an admin. We're getting (or at least I am) a permission error.
