I know people have mentioned that they would like to see more gc stuff going on. One thing I always thought would be fun would be a gc counterstrike tournament with some of the regulars. The goal wouldn't be to necessarily have the best players but encourage all level of skills to be involved. Lets face it, generally only the best players usually play in actual tournaments The primary objective would be to have fun first, win second. I would be willing to help organize teams/times for play etc. I am not an admin though so would need to get at least an admin or two to help. We could do 4 teams of 8 or 4 teams of 6? GC members get first shot at participating and then we could fill the rest with regulars from retro who were interested. I am not sure if that is expecting too much though to get that many people interested. I was thinking every team could play each other team once (best 2 out of 3 maps?) and then there would be a final to crown the winner? I have thoughts on some more details about how we could work it but wanted to see if people even thought this was feasible first. Also if you would have interest in playing in something like this, please post a message too.

I would consider it a misunderstanding like someone mentioned before. It seems that amertrash wasn't banned like he thought and amertrash calling fatty a doofus isn't meant as an insult coming from trash. I enjoy playing with trash and I find him to be one of the more entertaining players on the server. Trash hates everyone....remember the whole vovik thing a month or so ago? So to clarify when trash says anything that seems insulting, he really isn't....it is just his form of sarcasm. One other thing to note, Amertrash has told me on multiple occasions he really likes being shot in the head in CS....so let's not deprive him of this joy. Btw, who is the person who refers to people as "babe" when talking in the server. Is that Smeg or Amertrash or someone else? I laugh every time hear them refer to someone by calling them babe but I can't remember exactly who that is.

I used to read a lot of fantasy novels. I have never read this series but I am starting a new series a friend recommended to me, A Song of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin. The first book is titled a Game of Thrones. From his description it sounds like it will be a great series. I played the boardgame A Game of Thrones and it was so great it made me have interest in the books. I also really enjoyed the Shannara series by Terry Brooks, however I never read the newest books in the series.

I'm going to have to talk to you to remember what you looked like from '07 since you refuse to point yourself out in a picture for me. Come on Jackie, everyone knows that Shaft cannot afford to be identified by photograph....he has made far too many fencing enemies.

I recently changed ISP in the last month and I have noticed that I have received quite a few comments from others about me lagging/jumping around when I have played in the past month. I don't seem to notice much of a difference on my end when I am playing but apparently others in the server are. I don't know much about rates, etc. Any advice or hints on what I may be able to do to address this in game? Going back to old ISP is not one btw...I am also not very good with computers so keep it as simple as possible.

Amertrash says that to everyone and anyone who kills him two times or more in a map, it is not meant as an insult. I get that all the time from him but he isn't serious. He was actually trying to find you an admin by asking people. I had just got on the server at in the middle of aztec and the two guys that vovik mentioned were acting likes jerks and tking him as he said. From the little bit I saw both of those guys should probably be banned.

I agree with everything here except one thing. There should not be more bots. If 6 people are on, I'd rather play 3v3 without bots, than 4v4 plus a bot on each team. That's my own personal preference though. I think the focus should be on getting people to want to play on the server, not how can we draw unsuspecting people to join the server. Understandable, I just find it less entertaining to play 2 vs 2 or sometimes even 3 vs 3 and would prefer a few more targets (human or bot) in those games. Playing preference I guess.

A quick input from a non-admin, I have been playing CSS on GC for two years now and love it. I enjoy CSS but like playing with GC members more. I think you guys are on the right track with slowly getting more gc community events going. You will always have some that are in it for the game but I think most people get on the GC server for the people. Where else can you get AWPed by M2, get shot in the face with a TMP by FirstMonk, get a "nice job" comment from Dragonfire or laugh their behinds off listening to Goofus Maximus's comments. That being said regarding the game itself I will put in my two cents (I am sure most of these have been noted earlier): 1.) Map rotation is too limited (how many times can we play dust 2 and mill? I see you guys are currently looking at addressing that) 2.) Players who insult others need to be permanently banned regardless of whether they are an admin or who they know 3.) A better job needs to be done to balance teams to make games more competitive, maybe it is just me but there seems to be an increase of blowouts over the past few months (for example if four of the best five players are on the same team, someone move to the other team to help balance it...I know this subjective but most of us recognize who the best players in the server generally are) 4.) Initial Inertia....I think there is a tendancy for people to not join unless there is a number of people in the game (8+ usually). I am not sure if there is a concrete way to address this other than encouraging people to jump in when they can even if it is for a short time. Another option would be to increase each sides bots by one or two, maybe that will give some incentive for people to join when the server has few people in it. 5.) Experiment with a few more theme nights? Of course it may take more admins but obviously custom maps night is a big hit. Perhaps a hour/two hour gun game slot, no scope slot, etc. Maybe a fun CSS GC season tournament? Have some teams of six or eight, make sure it includes all level of players, not necessarily "the best on the server" and make sure the teams are somewhat balanced. Have it be more of a fun activity instead of super competitive (although there will always be some competitiveness). Kind of like what we did at fragfest this year for example. Just throwing some ideas out there...

How can you say that with a straight face? Who do you think it is, Favre? Have you watched him play over the past few years? I have watched him nearly every game and he has really diminished. Plus coming off the injury and playing on turf (which he is awful on) is going to hurt him this year. We are talking right now, not history and Favre's best years are behind him. I will admit that Favre is probably top 50% even with all of the factors listed above. Cutler is certainly way better than what the Bears have had for a long time but I would rate him as a good QB only maybe top 30%. Rodgers did an amazing job last year in probably the most difficult situation a QB has, replacing a legend. I know nothing about Detroit's rookie. So yes that is my straight face. QBs I would rather have than Cutler (in no particular order): 1.) Tom Brady 2.) Peyton Manning 3.) Eli Manning 4.) Drew Brees 5.) Donovan McNabb 6.) Aaron Rodgers 7.) Matt Ryan

Being a Packers fan, it doesn't really bother me....I got over the Favre thing right away because we needed to dump him. I believe that Rogers is the best QB in the division over Favre and Cutler. I will admit he probably an upgrade from what the Vikings had at QB but I doubt he will make it through a season. Plus I don't miss all of the dumb interceptions he would throw, which will now happen to the Vikings ! It should be a fun year for the NFC North because the Packers, Bears and Vikings all have legitimate shots at the conference.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein was great, I remember it was pretty freaky playing it the first time through. I am looking forward to a new one as well.

L4D1: 9 months to release Survival Mode, add Versus Mode to 2 of the campaigns, and now a 2 map campaign that lasts a projected 30 minutes according to several articles. L4D2: 11 months to make 5 campaigns with Co-op, Versus, and Survival Modes, new weapons and playable characters, improved AI Director, and new Special Infected. I like and play L4D as much as the next guy, but this is kind of silly. I agree with you Monk. I am not opposed to Valve making some more money from L4D. They must think we are stupid to believe that this is a whole new game. More maps/weapons etc and using the same engine at most warrants an expansion costing no more than $19.99, not a full $50. Besides some of the custom maps fans have created are way better than the original ones and goes to show that making new maps isn't that difficult or costly for Valve.

I recently joined a Steam group that is called L4D2 Boycott. I was suprised how many people were signed up on it. Basically fans of L4D who are unhappy that the game they are planning on coming out with is a new game for the full $50 in one years time and that it doesn't appear to be that fundamentally different. Don't buy the game as well....I may buy it when the price comes down (unless new info comes out that justifies me paying $50 again).

I have been to Wrigely Field and while it has "history and tradition" it is really an awful ballpark. Seats are crappy and uncomfortable, restrooms terrible, and half of the fans don't even pay attention to the game. It is a fun place to go and drink though and at least it is in a decent part of Chicago.

1.) Creationism is the belief that a supreme being made man/earth/everything. 2.) Intelligent design is similar in the belief that something other than the Big Bang started life but not as narrow and can include aliens, other unknown beings/forces etc. 3.) Evolution is not random as a scientific process, but that doesn't mean it was necessarily created by an higher being. 4.) Not advocating one or the other (because I don't know which one is correct) but at this point of our feeble knowledge of the universe, isn't intelligent design just as plausible as the Big Bang Theory. It is built on Einstein's theory of relativity which hasn't been disproved but is probably incomplete as a model. (Keywords are theory) 5.) Everyone don't get so worked up about this topic, we all know Cthulhu is going to rise from the depths of the ocean and devour our world anyway right?

I find it interesting that several of our founding fathers were deists, such as Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. It is debatable as to whether George Washington was or not. Of course I suppose it isn't suprising since deism was very popular during that time.

Hopeful agnostic .....because none of us knows for certain.

Sort of reminds me of Bomberman....those games were great.
