  1. Unfortunately I won't be able to join you guys this year..... We have a project manager at work who is going absolutely fruit-loops on a project that we have going on, so I need to be at work to meet his "start date" that he has down on his project plan (which BTW makes me absolutely happy because we won't even hit the start date!). If by chance I can escape, I will - but it looks like I might be around for golf only. How about two days of golf? Beating that poor defenceless little white ball is good therapy. Of course, it helps when you have the good bottle too! If I do show up (with said bottle) I think Ren and I can do some damage.
  2. Thankfully - none. There were too many Chineese military around. Funny thing is that they all seemed to be watching the Russian women in high-heeled boot climbing the wall (in their fur coats nonetheless).....
  3. When we went to China, I had to take SOMETHING GC-related with me. It may be a bit lame, but it was the american tourist-y thing to do At least there weren't any campers in the tower!

    Our new son

Yep. He will be going to the Cleft clinic at Mott Children's Hospital. Yeah, I know, many of you guys don't like the U (of M - heh), but being as they have dedicated staff, great results and the fact that we only live (maybe) 30 minutes away we can't go wrong! His first appointment is Wednesday; hopefully surgery will be next month. BTW - my bad. I originally started in Lives we lead, but since there seemed to be births up here (and being higher on the ladder I added the general announcement picture here). If need be, lead me to the woodshed. I'll still bring the bottle of Chivas Cask 16 golfing at FF and gladly buy you a drink.

    Our new son

Hey all - this is Ben. We adopted Ben from China (we got back on Wednesday)..... The little guy is a joy. We already have him scheduled to vist the doctor on Wednesday; his surgery should be next week.
  6. When I saw this, I thought it would be the perfect ride for the Big Guy! ...Now if I could only have gotten away with putting the GC sticker on the side of it!
  7. MMMMMMMM....... steamin brains! Let's see one with you sucking on a chicken foot! Guess it is Bush FTW...

    sooo...

Clue FTW. It still surprises me that she was alive so early the next morning....
  9. That would be cool - after all, we need a target designated cart driver on the driving range golf course.
  10. Pretty sure I'll be there! Now all Duke needs is permission
  11. Thanks guys! It was a great trip. There was always something going on - we started in Beijing, went to our child's province and then ended up down south where the US consulate is. It wasn't until the last couple of days that we could really relax. The only hard part of the entire process was the return trip - way too long (20 hours of travle time) - in coach. I have seen way to much of the inside of a 747 for a while.... We were originally in Chineese domestic program but because of changes in China it would have taken an additional 2-3 more years (estimate) for a placement. We elected to be placed in the special needs program and as the name implies it is for children with special needs - anything from very minor and correctable issues to very severe issues. Our son has a cleft lip/palate (sp?) and it is something that is completely correctable - as a matter of fact he has his first appointment at the U of M children's hospital on Wednesday. ZD - the agency we used was Adoption Associates. They are based in Michigan, but have clients nation-wide. They have a great reputation and have programs with other countries besdies China. Their website is: http://www.adoptassoc.com/
  12. Hey all - My wife and I have *finally* come out of the purgatory of the last few years - and have completed an adoption of a son from China. We returned yesterday and are readjusting to life in the normal world - where there are stoplights, people drive on the street and use the pretty dashed lines, you can't see the air before you breathe it, everyone isn't trying to sell you a "Rolex", and animal body parts that shouldn't be eaten are featured in the buffet.... Now if only my rear would heal from the airline seat...! I have a couple thousand pictures to pull of the camera and categorize and will hope to have some posted soon (including a good candidate for a new l33tmobile for Fatty:). And yes, GC did venture to the great wall. Our son suffers from a cleft lip/pallat (sp?) and initial screening appointement is in six days - so between that and all the family obligations go (or how much we have to go through) I hope to have some pictures posted in the near future.

    China Pics

Hey Bush - the place looks quite a bit different that it does in the winter - I just got back from two weeks over there.
  14. Woot! I would have replied sooner - but we have spent the last two weeks in China (for an adoption - we left on the 1st). I think I will be recovered from the 20 hours in the air to be able to play..... I have to say that it is certainly nice to be back where you don't see your air before you breathe it, where there are stoplights and no driving (or passing for that matter) on the sidewalk, or the aversion to eat all sorts animal body parts that don't deserve to be eaten (brains included...). Heh...
  15. ...and if I can ever get some free time (work is killin' me!) I'm looking forward to joining you guys! I couldn't tell you the last time I had the 'puter on at home....
  16. Yep, was a great time. Many thanks to everyone who worked their rears off - 'specially DNA and Mrs. Fish!
  17. It has been quite a while since I have reinstalled my system, and is is starting acting strangely. So, I think it mightbe time to reinstall.... Anyway - what steps must I do to reinstall all of the Steam-powered games that I have installed (and other that I bought through Steam)? Could I just copy those over from my original hard drive? Thanks....
