  1. So, there's gonna be some changes around here in a month or so. Forums moving from the circa late-2000's era up into the now times with content streams and responsive things and all that. One thing I've always wanted to get around to doing was Rig Fight! We all have computers, some better than others. Occasionally someone will drop a build thread as they create their latest monster gaming machine. But alas, we have no community record of who's gaming with what, how fast (slow) it is, and so on. I could have done this a year or two ago but now, it's kinda easy peasy to pull off. So, as part of the community refresh inbound I figure this can come along for the ride. Hell, can even give out prizes on a yearly basis and so on. You get the idea. So, what would you want for community DB of this nature? Out of the gate I got this: Type (Desktop/Laptop/Other) Operating System CPU Make CPU Model CPU Stock Speed CPU Operating Speed (Current speed for overclockers) Memory Size (GBs) Primary Storage (HD/SSD/Memory) Primary HD/SSD Make Primary HD/SSD Size Standard text box for you to blither about in about how great your PC is. Image upload pile for you to dump all the glorious pictures of your special snowflake. After that, well, sky's the limit. I imagine we'll want fields PCMark 7 and 8, 3D Marks of various flavors. Monitor Make/Model Standard screen res. Gets a bit tricky with dual card people but otherwise video card make and model, video card memory (total?), shader count? Case make. Uhh... Cost too. Will be interesting to see how people do value wise. Also to laugh years later after spending $xxxx only to see some $30 part from China two years later equal it in performance Naturally all this is browsable, sortable, etc. Have at it!
  2. Draft 7th 8th or 9th? We need to get this locked in now...
  3. Sad Packers fan is sad... Anyways, probably time to start setting up a draft time (after the 4th preseason game of course)

    Spigot

mcmap.gamrs.co BTW, I'm glad the server rebuild could be done in-place without a full wipe. The MC world stuff was maybe a 1 gig. The dynmap alone was north of 1.6.
  7. The server is running Spigot now. Spigot is just a fancy Craftbukkit with more something something.... The world that existed before I brought the server down a day or two ago is still there, nothing has been wiped. Log in, have fun. You guys can continue the debate about wiping the world or not. Other than that I ran a bunch of Centos updates (running 6 64 bit if you are curious) and bumped the Java on the server from something like 1.8.0_4 to 1.8.0_45 or whatever. Java had not been updated sine July of last year. Gotta be better now.
  8. Minecraft back online. Centos updated, Java from an early 8 build to the latest 8_45 build. Spigot running. Same old world.

  9. Server is back online. Old world is still there and cooking. Spigot *IS* running but since it is just a wierd version of Craftbukkit you will discern nothing has changed. Until things change. As for new world wipe etc.... I leave you to it. I resume teh deep lurkings... for now...
  10. I thought it was going to be Rangers and Ducks. Instead it was Chicago chicagoing and Tampa getting good fast. Alas if Bishop hadn't torn his junk...
  11. Minecraft offline for a bit while the server gets spiffied up and Spigot gets installed. Should be online Tuesday sometime...

It's just a suped up version of craftbukkit. Also, gonna take another day and bow up the server. It's still running Centos 5 32 bit. Kinda limiting so... Another day. Sorry.

Also, can choose to run it or just craftbukkit - so if there were decisions being made no worries.

  12. My oh my the times we live in. Fallout 4 (with Minecraft style customization), new ultra-violent Doom, Steam Sale, Unreal Tournament eventually, and a whole new refreshed GC soon. I guess breaking my white GC pint glass was good luck after all...

      So much new stuff coming...

  13. Server Update: The problems continued through early AM. NFO swapped out the new router with an old one they had in reserve. They're will probably be another batch of downtime when they swap in the repaired (or new) router.

  14. NFOServers Chicago location is experiencing some hard, intermittent router failures. This is on NFO's side of things and you can expect some more random/web/game server downtime until they get a new OS loaded and configured on the router.

  15. Wasn't us! The server farm that houses all of NFOServer's Chicago stuff went down for a few hours Wednesday early afternoon. Sorry bout that :(

  16. SolarPanda your SteamID is wrong - no reserve until we get it from ya!

  17. Good news! This is the first weekend in October.
  18. Might be able to do a small thing again at Black Wolf. Maybe? Not sure of dates. That's not what this is about. This is about the realities of hotels. If we can get 60+ none of this is a problem, but when we have the numbers the last few years (a little north of 30) it's tough to get anywhere with hotels. I worked one wild option. If only the venue allowed outside food it would have been spectacular. Aloft Cleveland. Downtown. Brand new. All of it. KIller space. Bars. Outside lounge space a number of floors up the building. With the unfortunate nut that the attached restaurant controls the meeting space on weekends and will not allow ANY outside food or drink - it must be catered through them. Oh sure, you can have the space for free if you drop $$$$ on food. Which, almost would be doable. Except of course for the hours they aren't open. And they were very explicit in the consequences of breaking that rule. It could and would get ugly. Shame that. They probably make their bank on weddings though. I wonder if they will have one booked the first weekend of October... So it goes. I checked a few other venues but Marvin has been the one on the ball pushing and prodding and poking places and things. Summer for hotels is pretty much out at this point. That said, Marvin has presented this. Days Inn Richfield http://www.daysinn.com/hotels/ohio/richfield/days-inn-and-suites-richfield/photos-video?partner_id=&hotel_id=32657&campaign_code=&propId=DI32657&checkout_date&brand_id=DI&children=0&corporate_id=&ratePlan=&teens=0&affiliate_id=&iata=&rate_code=&adults=1&checkin_date&rooms=1 Former Holiday Inn Holidome. That means pool(s), mini golf, arcade, etc. It also means it's a bit on the old side. Reviews could be better. Call them scattershot. Marvin has been there, he can chime in. First weekend of October. This may be bad, it may be good and the new normal (summers can be tricky with weddings and the like) The entire ballroom space. All of Thrs, Fri, Sat, Sun. Not Thrs late afternoon to Sunday noon. The whole time. Free reign for food AND drink! All of it. As long as someone doesn't go off their nut. Marvin made assurances. The location isn't great for going out for five minutes and coming back with food. Plans would probably need to be made for food runs or at the least let everyone know when someone is going and people can piggy back on the order, etc. Always delivery too - I can see places making delivery area exceptions for a large enough order. Now comes the hard part. It's not 2005, 2006, 2007 any more. It's been a long time. Inflation and so on... $4000. Let's do some math! 30 people @ $75 a head. $2250. If attendance is the same as the last few years it's a no go. If some people donate to kick us up to around $3000 GC can eat a grand alright-ish. I'm just reluctant to have those funds go to cover a party with so few people attending. 60 people? $4500, the venue is covered. Teeshirts, free snacks, etc. 80 and now you've got a grand ole' time. It's a $1000 deposit to hold the space. If the numbers are too low months from now I've got no problem letting that deposit go. Beats the alternative. But this is all on you guys. Thursday October 1st through Sunday October 4th. Negotiated room rate of $80/night plus whatever street/block/neighborhood/city/county/state/made-up taxes and fees. Chime in. Marvin will have some more to add. I'll let this ride a day or two and then send a bulk email if it's worth it and then we can see where we really stand. PS to Marvin: Could it instead be Friday, Saturday, Sunday?
  19. We've been working hotel venues for a bit now. They cost money. Lots of it. More than 10 years ago.
  20. Or to put it a more detailed way, if we wanted to make server #3 we could do it without giving it a thought - we've got the server space, funds, etc. Fantastic offer; shame it wasn't a different game type.
  21. I had hopes for the playoffs but losing my top three guns and having MAFlurry decide along with the rest of the team to just take a few weeks off.. Yeah. And that luck pretty much carried on through the other rounds had I played in them. Waste of a good Toews who is lighting it up with Kane out and that sweet Hartnell pickup I had. Ah well. As for Leslie (Puck Monkeys) and Pronounce... Both had just unbelievable crap for goalie work this week, hard to look at (avert your gaze those who dare to look) but it really all came down to the last two games of Sunday night and shots on goal. With 4 minutes left Monkeys had you by one, then you tied it up then it went to OT and no change. The tiebreaker is apparently season head-to-head and then overall record (I think on that last one). No matter. Y'all know what her record is and can imagine what her head-to-head was vs Pronounce. Your pickup of Jagr for this week was fantastic. He had 10 shots on goals in two days.
