Fatty December 11, 2004 Share Fatty GC Founder December 11, 2004 Don't hear too much about them. Are there cheats out there? What types? I don't mean: "Do you think some people are cheating?" I mean: are there KNOWN cheats?
Clueless December 11, 2004 Share Clueless GC Alumni December 11, 2004 Just your typical speedhacks and wall hacks are all that i've seen. There are cheats like god mode and stuff, but you have to have cheats enabled on server for them to work. I know there are also aimbots out there too. oh yeah, cheaters STINK!! igloo December 11, 2004 Share igloo Member December 11, 2004 YES there are KNOWN cheats. aimbot, wallhack, no flash/smoke/scope etc. I've seen some readme.txt files from hacks on various clan forums... can't wait for vac2 :\
ishmael December 11, 2004 Share ishmael Member December 11, 2004 yeh. there are a ton of them. speed hacks are big. ditto on vac2. mm.
k-wix December 11, 2004 Share k-wix Member December 11, 2004 Cheating in Multiplayer & Singleplayer is a wasted experience, in my opinion.. really detracts from the game overall, especially multiplayer. The good thing is its really easy to see if people are cheating, Speedhacking especially, i've had firsthand experience already with seeing people zipping around at about x4 speed, the funny part was the guy kept getting shot. its gotta make you feel bad to be cheating and doing worse then 60% of the server. Clueless December 11, 2004 Share Clueless GC Alumni December 11, 2004 Just to add a quick note, waiting for vac2 shouldn't be a big deal, there are quite a few server anticheat programs out there, one of them that i see talked about most is Punkbuster, they are supposed to work better than vac from what people say. I am unsure about availability in source though.

I am unsure about availability in source though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Doesn't punkbuster do some weird things to your HD if it finds cheats? Can't remember fully, thought I Read something weird about it a while back though. There's definetly wallhacks and speedhacks, but I haven't seen an aimbot yet.. Hopefully Valve actually updates Vac2, unlike Vac :|.
huhuh? December 11, 2004 Share huhuh? Member December 11, 2004 there are two reasons to cheat 1) competition, people will do anything to win (compare them with baseball and steriods) 2) to ruin your game, these people have been offended or are mad at CS for some reason so they decide to go and try and ruin everybodys game, then laugh at them
Sir Shertown Pimp December 12, 2004 Share Sir Shertown Pimp Member December 12, 2004 I've cheated on an online rpg but never on an fps, It just seems entirely pointless to have something do the shooting for you.
igloo December 15, 2004 Share igloo Member December 15, 2004 there are some links on steam forums that show off the available hacks. the screenshots and options available are just disgusting... email me if you can't find the linkage on steampowered.com. SwOOp December 15, 2004 Share SwOOp Member December 15, 2004 The best thing that punkbuster ever had going for them, was the screen capture feature, which was cut and dry as to whether people were cheating or not. The screen shot shows exactly what they are seeing on their screen. I guess I wouldn't call it an anti-cheat but rather a cheat detection, but it was by far the best feature out there, and I would love to see it in gaming again. TheBugs December 16, 2004 Share TheBugs Member December 16, 2004 I remember that back int he 1.3 to 1.4 days. It was a really good idea, wonder why punkbuster stopped doing it?
ConGregation December 16, 2004 Share ConGregation Member December 16, 2004 punkbuster quit supporting CS because Valve wouldn't help them in any way. Valve wanted to emplement VAC. Remember Cheating Death? [NO-CD]
VooDooPC December 16, 2004 Share VooDooPC Member December 16, 2004 PunkBuster has brought back the screen shot on death thing. They started using it in Americas Army a few weeks ago.
Xterminator December 16, 2004 Share Xterminator Member December 16, 2004 punkbuster is good. All BFV servers run it now. It's manditory i think. Yeah i remember a few weeks ago playing on Coalition server, we caught some guy wall hacking. So obvious... Cheaters suck!
