duma January 29, 2005 Share duma Member January 29, 2005 (edited) First, I would like to say that I enjoy your server. I go there because I know that the "crap" isn't taken. However, I am very disappointed with the immaturity of an admin of your server today at 130pm EST on your scopeless server. It was the first round, and I was the only T left. There were two AT left, both of which were trying to get to the bomb. I was low on health, so I was trying to slow them down, and hope the bomb would go off in time. The clock was to a point that I though it was safe to chase after one of the AT players that I had taken a good number of shots at. I was wrong. The other AT defused the bomb. Now, I can take the "you stupid [explicit deleted]." What I find incredibly wrong is on the start of the next round, an admin killed me through console. I find that this goes against the principles of GC, and it goes against the reason I play on your server(s). GC servers kick those that TK. For that alone, this was wrong. Though the admin might not have been on my team, the basic ideals of why a tk is wrong is still there. The taking of another players life, by means of ill intent, and taking an advantage of a situation. It also hurts the team. So, though it might not have been a tk, the rational remains the same. Second, you hold a philosophy on your website that, "games are meant to be fun. When something is not fun, something needs to change, you can enjoy gaming without cussing, putting people down, or riding on your own ego. In fact, the games are much more fun without these things." IMO, what happened there was in violation of those two philosophies. Apparently and admin took this game beyond being fun. If a person's mistake is punished by a TK, that is outside the scope of this "game." Also, tking a person who failed to do as you wanted, is by all means a way of putting down someone. Finally, I Find this to be in a failure to act as an admin should, according to your own standards. "Admin .. foster fair play.." I don't believe that was fair play. To tk a person because of a poor choice. And, given my health, had I stayed put, I might have died anyway. I requested the admin to step forward, but none would. I suggest to them that tking me was against the GC philosophy. Still, no admin would step up to tell me why they thought it wasn't. I realize that I am just a pub. I am not required to play on your server. However, I think that if I were running this clan, I would want to know when someone was in gross failure of upholding our philosophy. Did someone say this to you from GC in addition to a slaying? Or was that some example of what you would have rather had instead of the slaying? Clear that up for me? Thanks for the post. Camping the bomb is completely acceptable, and making mistakes are too. Heck, now that I reread your recreation, you did nothing wrong, sounds like the CTs just snuck one in on ya. Sounds like someone wanted to add insult to injury. As for everyone else, let's not all pile on here. I'll pull the logs right now. One correction, however. You mention console....just wanted to clarify that if you got slayed, it was from within the game by someone playing or spectating, not through console remotely. If we're going to discipline someone, it won't be here, and the public need not know about it. We're not here to tar and feather, but take steps to improve our serveres. To Duma: Thank you, and this will be addressed. This admin will be warned and the violation noted unless for some reason you've turned into a big story maker upper. PM me any other details you have please. Ahhh, i just saw the 1:30 PM est...I'll find the juicy logs now. Thanks. *Edit* It should also be noted that we'll obviously do research, but more importantly want to hear the other side of the story from the admin. Both of these people have been banned. Duma was pwnd by PUB CSTRIKE SYNDROM. Thus is life in CS with no admins. Heck, even beetlemod was doing its best to help you out. I would like for those to understand that I work out of a subtext of just playing for fun. When things are not fun, I move on. I haven't the time to stress over a hobby, so I tend not to worry about the side issues. When I was playing today, I honestly thought someone had killed me through the console. Right as the round started I was killed. When I looked at the right upper side of the screen to see who/what killed me, there was only a skull and duma suicide. I then asked if the console killed me. I couldn't think of any other reason that I would see no one killed me, but I was dead. I like playing on GC server, so I made it a point to try and correct this, rather then move on. I am actually glad that I did. What I learned from this is that GC is truelly a better community then most. You have people who really listen to the complaints of the public, and look into matters rather then just passing it off as foolishness. I offer my sincere apologies for this mistake, the time Fatty had to spend looking into it, and any misrepresentations this might have made upon the honor code of the server admins. That is the only second time I have seen that, the first was when I fell of a wall. I didn't fall, and I didn't see a weapon... I assumed console killed me. I'm almost 100% positive that this happens even when the offender isn't auotmatically kicked right away. I think this is a bug in the game itself but I'm not sure.
