Magruter August 23, 2006 Share Magruter Member August 23, 2006 What's the difference? First would my mobo handle this card, asus p4s8x? I know it would be a bottle neck but there's a great price floating around the web on a GS.

Magruter August 23, 2006 Author Share Magruter Member August 23, 2006 I don't know if i feel like dealing with the hassle of selling it. But buying this card would be mean a full system upgrade for me. Since my monitor doesn't have DVI.
HWarrior August 23, 2006 Share HWarrior Member August 23, 2006 DVI->VGA adapter only costs about $2.

Magruter August 23, 2006 Author Share Magruter Member August 23, 2006 My mobo is agp and the card is pci. Without knowing anything i'm thinking they aren't compatible.?.? slickdeals just points you too woot...
HWarrior August 23, 2006 Share HWarrior Member August 23, 2006 Sorry Mags. Not compatible. If you are looking for decent gaming options for AGP under $200, it is pretty much just the x800 xt. In terms of price/performance though, it might be better to hold off and save up on new system (mobo, cpu, ram, etc).
Magruter August 23, 2006 Author Share Magruter Member August 23, 2006 Yeah. probably right, though deal to pass out... Thx HW!
HWarrior August 23, 2006 Share HWarrior Member August 23, 2006 (edited) Yeah I am having a tough time resisting that deal. I just rebuilt the HTPC, Student loan rates up, & Mrs. HW just bought her first car. So I guess I will have to hide my credit cards. dwEEziL August 25, 2006 Share dwEEziL Member August 25, 2006 I saw that too and was very tempted but $$ is tight right now. I "heard" (but didn't confirm) that you could easily bump it to GT speeds (although not sure if this was just through OC'ing or through an "unlocking" procedure). Unclean August 25, 2006 Share Unclean Member August 25, 2006 There's also something for the GT called "volt modding"... I just picked up a 7900GT KO, and might try this out later. Cujo could probably tell you more about volt modding though.
Cujo August 25, 2006 Share Cujo Member August 25, 2006 the 7900gs is not only slower clocked then a gt but also has 4 less pixel pipes. 20 to be exact. so a bios flash, were it possible, would be necessary.
