Edit: and is there a way I can find out what the mobo supports in regards to upping the processor? Edited November 18, 2006 by DarkArchon

Edit: and is there a way I can find out what the mobo supports in regards to upping the processor? it's either socket 423 or 478. the cooler on the left is socket 423 and the cooler on the right is socket 478. or you could download this and it will tell you which socket the cpu is. upgrading from a 2ghz to something higher is a complete waste unless the motherboard supports 800fsb. more than likely, since it's a dell, it supports only 400 and possibly 533 fsb which does go up to 3.06ghz but i'm not sure it's money well spent on an aging machine. however, if it does indeed support 800fsb and happens to have ddr400 memory then yes i would definitely recommend picking up a used 2.8 or 3ghz 800fsb p4. I think you get a sick enjoyment on knowing everything. Edited November 18, 2006 by Cujo
