Xoul December 7, 2006 Share Xoul Member December 7, 2006 What do you guys use for mouse settings in windows, and in game. And what console settings do you guys do? There imo, there isn't a very good guide out there with what tweaks to use. I just did a clean install of windows and was attempting to tweak mine. mookie December 7, 2006 Share mookie GC Alumni December 7, 2006 For the mouse, first I turned off acceleration in Windows, then went right to changing sensitivity in-game. My mouse filter is off, but that might be default. After that I went in the menus, set up everything there how I wanted it, and made my config read-only. I like to play with mat_specular and mat_bumpmap both off. net_graph 3, set my rates, that's pretty much it. Got this in there too: bind "b" "buymenu; status" One interesting cvar I happened on today is mat_bloomscale. If you use HDR you might want to play with it some (I don't usually use HDR). Baruch December 7, 2006 Share Baruch Member December 7, 2006 Mouse accel in windows on med. and sensitivty about middle. And then Dled casey's config which made my older comp run cs remarkably well. and also added cl-crosshairscale 20000000 to make a tiny point for hs's galore
TheGeek December 7, 2006 Share TheGeek Member December 7, 2006 How do you turn off mouse acceleration in windows mookie? I have a G5, if that helps. btw, I use cl_crosshairscale 2200 and I use some auto buys like, alias w3 "wait; wait; wait" bind "mouse4" "slot2; w3; slot1" bind "z" "buy awp" bind "n" "buy flashbang; buy flashbang; buy hegrenade" and this for low LOW graphics. mat_picmip 2 The higher the picmip the worse the graphics. The other stuff is normal with Casey's Source Config

Laz.e.rus December 8, 2006 Share Laz.e.rus Member December 8, 2006 How do you turn off mouse acceleration in windows mookie? I have a G5, if that helps. Some mouse drivers will let you. ALso, you can use regedit if your comfortable with it ( wouldnt suggest it) OR you can dl and run the cpl mouse fix Its good to have it off for gaming as it makes your crosshair automatiaclly move upwards when you click..and keeps your movement fully consistent
mookie December 8, 2006 Share mookie GC Alumni December 8, 2006 cl_cmdbackup is gone now. I liked that cvar; I used to use it to overcome high outbound packetloss on my parents' ISP. Settings | Control Panel | Mouse | Motion I have there (Windows 2000) Speed and Acceleration, plus 'Snap to Default' which is of no interest to anyone with an actual mouse (i.e. not a touchpad). Basically acceleration makes it so that the faster you move the mouse the further it will go, so if you move it the same distance in half the time your cursor will move further. When you turn it off you'll probably find the cursor to feel sluggish, but if you increase the speed a bit to me it feels more precise.

You can have a ton of RAM, terrific processor, and if your graphics card is average, you're going to get average fps. Play with your rates until you don't have choke? What's your video card like? You can have a ton of RAM, terrific processor, and if your graphics card is average, you're going to get average fps. Play with your rates until you don't have choke? The uneven amount of ram is messing it up a bit, the proc's good, and the video card is below good compared to standards now. For Source that's pretty decent, just depends on the settings. At ~70fps you must have them low for the most part. Only thing you really need to do is mess with your rates to get rid of the choke and lag. TheGeek December 15, 2006 Share TheGeek Member December 15, 2006 I'm not an expert at any stretch of the imagination but just fiddle with your rates. To get more fps: 1. reformat or 2. remove viruses and spyware 3. use a config and make cs look like 1.6 4. make sure that you have the minimum amount of processes running at one time. (like kill xfire, trillian, random software running at the time) 5. use the program "Highjackthis.exe" to find what EXACTLY is running at one giving time. 6. install new drivers and make sure you use "Driver Cleaner Pro" before to make sure there are no traces of the drivers. Other than that? Ask cujo. He is da bomb!

Its not super great, but i have mine overclocked and it runs like a dream. I actually upgraded from a 9800xt OCed, I had custom cooling on it so it was pretty beefy.
