Im looking to get the Blackberry Pearl http://www.discoverblackberry.com/devices/...Id=H0,C101,P203 The red one from cingular is nice. You guys like your pda/smart phone, or is it overkill? Cujo April 13, 2007 Share Cujo Member April 13, 2007 the pearl is awful if you're used to a standard blackberry and you're going to be typing lots of e-mail. if it's primary use is a cell phone it's nice. i have the 8700 and i'm happy with it for what it does. i wish it did more. take a look at the new 8800 as it's supposed to be an improvement in features. stutters April 13, 2007 Share stutters GC Alumni April 13, 2007 i hate my blackberry. the os is lousy (dropping calls -- NOT the carrier), the firmware makes it worse (calls no longer dropped, but call log randomly deletes itself), and i made the mistake of not buying the full sized one. it's also pathetic that they're not 3g'able. imo, get the pocketpc...assuming you're going with cingular. i'd say get the blackjack, but i don't have girl hands like nick s. it's unfortunate they don't make a blackberry standard sized blackjack. ZesteR April 15, 2007 Share ZesteR Member April 15, 2007 I've got a Palm Treo 650. it's an older version, but it still performs. I love having a touch screen, which the Blackjack does not. Blackberries are known for their easy gui for emailing. There are a lot of things to look into. I check out CNET.com's reviews of the phones. Do you want Palm OS? WM5? Blackberry OS? Touchscreen? Wifi.. which i suggest getting one.. but also check to see if you can buy a SD wifi card (I couldn't) Bluetooth Stereo... which would have been nice feature. I have cingular, and I wish I went with the PocketPC.. it's got wifi and it's a lot nicer than my outdated treo. I use my phone everyday. I use the calendar, calc., tasks, memos, SD slot for music and videos, games. I think it's great! Also, the iPhone comes out in June... but who wants to spend $500+ on a phone? not me. anonymo April 19, 2007 Share anonymo Member April 19, 2007 american phones ftw Blackberry pwns all your base The pearl is freaking sweet...don't have one myself but my best friend loves his and its quite disturbing to see how fast he can type with the qwerty-esq layout That being said I would really only recommend the Pearl for casual use...if you're actually using it for day to day business you'll be much happier with a full sized PDA

stutters April 24, 2007 Share stutters GC Alumni April 24, 2007 a new feature was rolled out today by blackberry and cingular. with my current firmware, anytime i call another cingular customer and get forwarded to voicemail, my phone resets. not stopping there, anytime my phone gets near a mild magnetic field (say, a CRT), my call history gets erased--but not my contacts. i'll sell you this baby for $100, then put that towards my iPhone purchase.
