  1. Having been a huge fan of the MP in the previous BF titles (excluding 2142 which I could just not get into), I'm pretty excited about BF3's arrival in October. The new MP trailer today has just got me uber excited (and I'm pleased that I've been planning a new PC build during September....) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDDfPxF3EFE&feature=player_embedded
  2. Old topic, but it's on Amazon's video game deal of the day for $4.99 for the download. If anyone hasn't played it, it's a great deal.
  3. I switched from pure summer tires on my car (also a rear wheel driver with quite a bit of power) last year to Michelin Pilot A/S Plus (which were relatively pricey, but a steal compared with the run-flats I had before). While we don't get that hard a Winter here in North Texas, we do get some snow/ice and quite a lot of heavy rain which was the reason for the swap as I didn't want to go dedicated winter and summer sets. I've been very happy with them, particularly in the winter time/wet weather and they come with a 45K mile warranty (although I'd be surprised if the rears make it to 20K although that's better than the 8-10K I was getting from the summer tires). You do forgo a reasonable amount of outright grip in the summer if you're a "spirited" driver and I may end up buying another set of rims for some more winter oriented tires so I can get a set of very soft Summer tires, but if you're looking for a year round solution and don't mind giving up a bit of grip at the limits I'd definitely recommend them. We bought my wife's car from a guy in Kansas City, and it came with two sets of wheels/tires, the Blizzaks (which I must say are absolutely superb in the winter) and some Kumho Ecsta XS summers, which are also superb. One of the guys in the office here has an S4 and I know he's running the Continental Extremecontact DW or DWSs, I can't remember exactly which but I know he's happy with them. There are a lot of good tire choices out there, I always check out tire-rack for reviews and pricing. A lesser known brand I know that one of the other guys I work with has which I've heard great things about on the boards and from him with some track use are Vredesteins if you can find them.
  4. Did you or they set salary expectations through the interview process? If so, is the offer in line with it? If there's one way to not start out on the right foot with an employer it's changing your demands after you know they want you.... If it's a "blind" offer, and you truly think it's the starting point for negotiation follow the lead provided by Preacher. Another approach is thank them, tell them that you will consider the offer as you believe it to be OK, but that you want to start a long term career with a company and you like what they've had to tell you so far, you would genuinely be "delighted/happy" to accept an offer at "insert requested figure here". And see what happens, they may say "that's our best offer", they may say "we want a happy employee", they may say "ok, we'll we've move to candidate number 2". The last one is unlikely as you were obviously top of the pile thus far...
  5. There was a major review of mechanical keyboards in the last Maximum PC (I think it was the last one, could have been the month before) but I cannot remember the overall outcome if you can find the article. I have a Razor keyboard I've had for about 3 years, I have never had 1 problem with it and it was a great investment. I've heard good things about Adesso's mechanical boards as well, but know very little about them.
  6. It was waiting on the porch when I got home last night, haven't started it yet as I know I'll be losing hours at a time as soon as I do (wanted the signature edition which I think was only available for pre-order, unfortunately that now means I have to just patiently wait until probably the weekend while it sits unused)...
  7. Um, yes please, definitely going to need to upgrade my 4 year old PC for this:
  8. I can't add too much on many of those items as I've only just started thinking about my new build, but I have a very similar power supply which in an Antec 900 was a royal PITA to get the "spare" cables tied down somewhere sensible and uncluttery (if that's a word)...
  9. Anyone still playing this, I originally got it for the 360, but picked it up on the cheap for the PC around Christmas and am loving it even more so, and it's absorbing most of my game time at the moment... Pretty happy my nearly 4 year old PC seems to run it without issue, but will be upgrading for Battlefield 3 later this year. If anyone is still playing, feel free to add me to your friends list: LEV GC
  10. Precisely the opposite to me: "There's a group of Deathclaws who've occupied the mine North of here" Response options: "Let me clear out those deathclaws for you" "Oh, so not geckos then? I'm only level three and I'd describe deathclaws as too much for my varmit rifle, rolling pin or 9 iron, actually I think I'll just leave now, nice to meet you Mr Miner" "let's talk about something else" I think I'll go with option b and just head off to Primm for a bit, oh, when I fast travel to Primm, it drops me right in the middle of 6 Powder Puff boys........
  11. Combine i-Robot, Blade Runner, the Matrix, Transformers and add a splash of Aishwarya Rai in the most expensive Bollywood Movie of all time and you get: Robot, or Enthiran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNXHveyzUvY&feature=player_embedded#!
  12. I'd started it, but lost interest last time (I guess with good reason), I'm going to leave it to last again so I don't end up dropping this character early.. Although I did run into a glitch where for no good reason at all the Brotherhood of Steel folks at GNR decided to attack me for no reason after I left the GNR building via the balcony, had to run in and try to talk to 3 Dog and run out again without dieing....
  13. Really looking forward to it, pre-ordered it a couple of weeks ago (I'm fairly sure Amazon were offering a $20 credit to your next game purchase when I did), I started a new FO3 playthrough this weekend for exactly the same reason (and I never actually finished the Mothership Zeta add-on..).
  14. +1 It produces a perfect ISO image (which you'll need to mount if that's the only option, Daemon tools lite is free and works like a charm) that I've been using to slowly copy all my English DVDs over to a US format... Since I've been taking that approach (in combination with Cucusoft's DVD + Video converter), I have no idea off the top of my head if it'll do a copy to AVI, WMV, MPEG 4 etc... As a quick + I've found if I just want to rip a DVD for playback on iPod, Zune etc. Cucusoft's tools do a great cut down to about 600-700MB on most DVDs in the format you need.
  15. Not only do I enjoy them, but they're also great to watch my 5 yr old dance and my 3 month old rock his head to............
  16. No download link? I followed your post on FB earlier, signed up to the soundcloud and everything......
  17. PM me and I'll upload it again tonight I've got about 4 of your mixes and enjoy them all, not sure if there are any others out there that I haven't heard, but would be great if you could upload them as well or provide linkys if they're all up.... Just checking and I've got: Bangers And Mash Melt in Your House Spring Bass Practice Ses 1 Feb 4 2009 and your Don't stop believin' mix any others?
  18. We have the same TV in our bedroom, one HDMI port's gone bad, but I think we've had it for nearly 3 years now and apart from the one port failing to work, we've been really happy with it. Have only done limited gaming on it, but it has a great picture (when it's not sat alongside a very high end TV and you're doing a 1:1 comparison) and is great value, would definitely get another one for the performance we've received for the price.
  19. I'm heading to my nearest pub (The Londoner) tomorrow at 1 to watch the England vs. USA game with several other Brits. Actually the pub was offering free drinks to any Americans who wanted to attend as they expect it's going to end up being exclusively Brits in attendance even though the pub backs onto the FC Dallas site....
  20. So, I know this is an oldish topic, but a buddy of mine got one and I love his take on it (I don't know if he stole this from somewhere else, but I liked it). "The iPad is the Tom Cruise of technology. It looks good and does some things well, but is overpriced, unnecessary, and tries to lock you in to an unbelievably crass belief system."
  21. Should have it waiting for me at home when I'm done with work, however, my mother-in-law is staying with us this week, so I don't think I'll get much play time before Sunday
