Cujo March 19, 2006 Share Cujo Member March 19, 2006 update on my system. replaced the 2x512mb with 2x1024mb corsair value which uses the samsung uccc chips. currently at 254mhz 3-4-4-12 and 2.5volts. super stable prime blend 15+ hours.
Guest zerodamage March 21, 2006 Share Guest zerodamage Guests March 21, 2006 You are at 4mhz higher than me.... for now. I may just bump mine up to 260 just to beat you. And my timings are better. MUAHAHAHAHA 3-4-4-8.
Cujo March 21, 2006 Share Cujo Member March 21, 2006 i can do those timings but what's the point. there's only an insignificant increase in performance. actually i'm stable at 3-4-3-8.
Preacher March 21, 2006 Share Preacher Member March 21, 2006 I just ordered an audigy 2 zs gamer due to some problems with the stock sound. That should also give me a slight performance boost also since the card will do the work that was putting strain on the mainboard.
Cujo March 21, 2006 Share Cujo Member March 21, 2006 why not x-fi?
Guest zerodamage March 21, 2006 Share Guest zerodamage Guests March 21, 2006 why not x-fi? Probably cost. There are several models and I do not fully understand the differene between all of the X-fi cards.
Guest zerodamage March 21, 2006 Share Guest zerodamage Guests March 21, 2006 I found an article explaining the differences. The high cost of the Fatal1ty now makes sense. http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=177&type=expert&pid=
Preacher March 21, 2006 Share Preacher Member March 21, 2006 Also I get 4 full version games with the A2 zs gamer and I got it for $69. The cheapest I found the X-FI was $89 and it had basically the same specs and reviews. Plus, I don't really do anything besides game, so what more do I need?
Cujo March 22, 2006 Share Cujo Member March 22, 2006 i've not seen any reviews that shows the x-fi anything less than a huge jump ahead of a zs.

Cobalt April 4, 2006 Share Cobalt Member April 4, 2006 Ok. The system is built but the watercooling isn't done yet cause I'm still working on a good way to mount the radiator and still have the case be LANable but the components are below. Cujo April 6, 2006 Share Cujo Member April 6, 2006 if you're making swap drives it doesn't make sense to make them raid 0. you want them to be raid 1 so if one dies you can swap in a new one.

They aren't swap drives per se. They are in the enclosures to keep them cool. I have another machine setup with 2 identical enclosures that is a media server. I have swapped the raid array into that machine to transfer BT media but the enclosures are mostly for the cooling purposes.
