GC should buy a really crappy 33tic server and name it "The Filth Pit". When ppl get banned from the normal servers and they try to reconnect, they get redirected to the filth pit. I have a hard time believing these fonts are really all free, but I don't see anyone going after GC for copyright theft of a font either. Charlesworth is a personal favourite of mine, but it's no good for blocks of text since it's all-caps (it was the font for the credits of Space: Above and Beyond). (BTW - need to make the last guy look like a pirate) "The Filth Pit" I like "The Toilet" myself In terms of fonts, etc... I kind agree with Bub - we do need to have the .com (how would it look if it was rendered like a watermark?). I also think we would want something that is clean and easy to read. The only reason I say this is that my director at work always wants all the bells-n-whistles, and it usually makes the web pages look like crap. Having something clean would make it easy to understand and (hopefully) comprehend. The other thing that comes to mind is colors - even though we want something in red, it might be better to use a differnt font/effect/color. Just my $2 (providing for inflation). I've also included ".com" in both files to indicate to users that we have an online presence here. They got a little cramped, IMO, but they still work. I've also added "Gaming without the e-thugs" as a footer item. That's a classic GC tag and it should be there. Oh, and don't worry... if you don't like something I keep all previous versions. I can always "rollback" an image if I screw up or people change their minds. For the third banner, I REALLY, REALLY want a friendly screen. Something with Ts or CTs (and even GCs) NOT fighting... in a homey environment. I'm hoping to capture these images in Inferno or Villa. If not, I'll muse and try to come up with something better. I'm going to try to stay out of Photoshop and Illustrator as much as possible since I'm killed for time. It's sorta like the billboard concept where you have only so much time as a car goes by to get your message in. While we're on it, what's the console command to bring up the motd while playing? Something along the lines of, "Be Nice, Have Fun, Try to Win; No Porn, No Swearing," I think really gets the whole message out there without confusing things with "sentences." Ebil, personally, a think a plain jane solid would encourage users to NOT stop and look. SOMETHING has to be there. My first inclination was to find pictures of real GC members. aMnesiac July 27, 2006 Share aMnesiac Member July 27, 2006 (edited) really like the design... wanted to see what you thought about these ideas: (i took a typography class, so i hope these aren't too anal, apologies in advance if they are) awp.knife - server title text. make the "IMMUTABLE - FF - STOCK - 100 TIC" title text a complimentary color to the colors already in the image or simply lower the opacity of the text to show some of the background image. grass - server title text. make the "IMMUTABLE - FF - STOCK - 100 TIC" title text dark gray and bump down the opacity a bit. i like the clouds a lot and having the text blend into the background image would make the server info text pop a bit more. server info text - format. make this text lowercase, lowercase fonts are easier for the eye to read and since this image usually isn't on screen for a long time, you want the viewer to be able to make things out better at a glance. - content. i like a lot of how this was worded. i think we should also try to focus on what we do while on the server. here's a modification of what you used with more influence on what we stress: this is a clean server clean names, clean language, no bigotry. teamwork and objective based play is required microphone communication is preferred respect the admins, members, and other players failure to follow these rules can result in a ban enjoy your stay and add us to your favorites WE NEED YOU TO FRAG! ... in a friendly and competitive environment. find out more about us at: i really like the gamerscoalition text at the bottom and the e-thug line let me know what you think. edit. gogo proofreading and more modification! Friendly fire is almost a given on our servers, messages pop-up throughout gameplay, and "FF" is prominent in our server title when browsing through Steam's server listings. Anyway, I uploaded v2 of the first two MOTDs. I haven't even started on the third...
