YoMamma September 18, 2008 Share YoMamma Member September 18, 2008 About a month from now, I will be on vacation in Las Vegas. I haven't been there since I was a kid (maybe 15 years ago or so), so I'm sure much has changed. I'll be going with a few friends and we're all over 21. Does anyone who has been to Vegas before have any suggestions for things I MUST SEE or MUST DO?

Don't leave the "lady of the evening" in your buddies room unattended when he has $2500 and a DSLR lying on his bed, even if it is 7 in the AM. farmerisme September 18, 2008 Share farmerisme Member September 18, 2008 Spend at least one night on the old strip, I think it is Fremont street, lots of good old school casinos and fun street life. There is a shooting range a bit off the strip where you can shoot all sorts of weapons... think its called the 'gun store' or something like that. If you are going to clubs, make sure to take the limo's from the hotels... they are usually free as long as you go to somewhere they get a kickback. Sports book at Mandalay bay (and the pool there) are the best in town. Buffets are way overpriced at the hotels, though the food is crazy good. If you are going to drink at the casinos be careful... but never order a drink from the bars there, always sit down on a cheap slot machine (or be gambling for real) and all drinks are free. Just a few things from when I went there this spring.
YoMamma September 19, 2008 Author Share YoMamma Member September 19, 2008 (edited) where are you staying? Are you going for more gambling or more nightlife? The Luxor. Planing on both gambling and the nightlife. So far, all we have are tickets to Chris Angel's show called Believe. shoot September 19, 2008 Share shoot Member September 19, 2008 Buffet... Always go for brunch as it's the cheapest time (around $25). I highly recommend the buffet at Mirage. I've probably tried them all and the Mirage buffet has the best balance of price vs food choice and taste. Beats Wynn buffet in my opinion and much cheaper. For steak... Del Frisco's. Simply awesome. About $80~$100/person but worth it. Go there when you win a bunch of money. Go checkout all the hotels on the strip, as every hotel is quite unique. Hotels to see: Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian/Palazzo, Caesars Palace, Hard Rock (Off the strip but go for the chicks). Gambling at those high profile hotels can get expensive as most tables will have higher minimum bets, especially on the weekends. You can find lower minimum tables in downtown or some of the hotels "off" strip. If you're a poker player, I recommend Venetian as they have one of the biggest poker room in Vegas. This is where I play. Have fun!
stutters September 19, 2008 Share stutters GC Alumni September 19, 2008 never ever go for more than 4 nights. imo 3 is pushing it. yes, drinks at tables/slots are free. drink up, but the more you drink, the less cash/credit cards you should take with you, again, imo. if you don't know how to play craps, spend a couple nights learning online. most fun, lowest risk, and usually a good time at the table. luxor is a nice place to stay. i've never taken a trip to the old strip, but sounds like farmer is on to something. if you see one show on the strip, that's enough. it's an experience, but usually a costly one. always carry the number of a bail bondsman in your pocket. always. have fun! Gond September 19, 2008 Share Gond Member September 19, 2008 Haven't been to vegas in quite a while but when I went we did some day trips up and down the strip. You should take the walk & see the different casino's, very cool stuff. Since I'm not a huge gambler we did some slots but actually paid for our drinks instead of losing money to get them for free. At the time a beer was like a buck and mixed drinks were silly cheap. And remember...Free != Free cause you still have to tip for things.
