Tracid July 28, 2010 Share Tracid Member July 28, 2010 Dead possum in yard, don't know how many days been dead, sun pretty much stuck it to concrete, peeled it off starting with tail (its in a plastic bag now) but the side on concrete was persistently glued to it, there was maggots and lines of ants (one of the line of ants goes into my house :x) I stupidly spray water hoping they would go away but nope, now it smells and the maggots are lost by spray. I am at a lost, do I pour gasoline on it and try to incinerate everything? (hopefully not my house too) I tried pouring some bathroom cleaner on it that has bleach in it and leaving it over night for now. But yeah HELP! Clueless July 28, 2010 Share Clueless GC Alumni July 28, 2010 Hmm...can't say that I have ever dealt with this issue, but one thing you could try is the acid they use to clean concrete and brick....can't remember for sure, but maybe muratic acid? Whatever it is, ask the folks at Home Depot in the masonry dept and they can point you in the right direction. That's about the only suggestion I have for ya....Good luck! samurai nightling July 28, 2010 Share samurai nightling Member July 28, 2010 (edited) Lye, get yourself some lye that will eat away at the flesh. Just keep people, animals, kids, anything you dont want to get hurt from it away lol. Hmmm lye is just Sodium hydroxide. Just found that out. Preacher July 28, 2010 Share Preacher Member July 28, 2010 If it's a safe distance from everything gas and fire works well. A flat bladed shovel to work it up a bit first would be best, but death is nasty.
Tracid July 28, 2010 Author Share Tracid Member July 28, 2010 The remains is 2 inches from sliding glass door to bedroom I covered it with bathroom cleaner that has bleach in it and see where it goes from there tomorrow.
samurai nightling July 28, 2010 Share samurai nightling Member July 28, 2010 Have you thought about a more natural way? Go to your nearest pet store that sells like flesh eating insects, like some sort of beetle or something that eats dead animals. Drop them on it and bam, gone. Just dont know how long it would take lol.

Bush July 28, 2010 Share Bush Member July 28, 2010 I'd use muratic acid. It's cheap and will do the job the quickest, just make sure you use so ppe because the stuff is pretty strong, even from your local hardware store. MSDS

NOFX July 29, 2010 Share NOFX Member July 29, 2010 I'd probably go with the gas/fire route just because it sounds the most fun.
