It's a bug with fastswitching weapons. (Using the slot number instead of the nextweapon command). Do as PDO says. It's gotten me killed so many times I may need a new mouse soon... ;/

Played it from launch. Fun game, but it got old. There was no end-game content when I played. Killed every mob in the game before Shrouded Isles was released. Cleaned out Darkness falls, and the other dungeon that starts out in the frontiers. Was a top10 RP earner for 3months running after I hit 50. Cleaned out the Had... 45 Runie on Andred (before the merge) 50 Thane on Midgard/Merlin 50 Healer on Midgard/Merlin 42 Wizard on Alb/Lancelot (I think) And about a dozen other miscellaneous toons in the battlegrounds in each realm.

I use it for some gotfrag related stuff. It's decent voip function. Very different in utility than teamspeak though. You don't need to host a server for it to work. It's pure P2P. Good stuffs.

It's only a the baseline game without any of the expansion packs (where most of the cool stuff is). The game was buggy as hell on launch, but it's had a great following. It's very gear dependent and you have to twink like crazy to be really competitive. I played it religiously with my MMOG guild after we left DAOC, mostly bcs there was a lack of anything really fun to do. As far as MMOG's go... it's OK. But you really need a full guild to play the game, so doing it solo is feasible up until.... low 100s or so. EQ2 is definatley alot better ;p

Jon, get the DNA drivers. They're on the gotfrag site. 4.12 is latest version. They'll clean up driver corruption in the ATI install. 4.11 and 4.12 from ATI require .NET to be installed. Don't bother if you don't have it. It's not worth it. Just run the DNA's. Run Sisosoft free edition to optimize your PC. That should help you shut down some services that you don't need. I benchmark at 19015: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8089989 with a p4-2.8C, 1gb of Corsair XMS LLS Ram, SATA 160gb drive and a shuttle system w/ x800XT 256mb. You should score a little higher than my system.

Mouse Accel sucks. If you try to snipe or do flick shots, you're going to overshoot. MX510 is better than the 500. But you won't notice unless you have perfect aim. 800dpi vs 1000dpi is a fairly small difference. http://gear.gotfrag.com has the 310 and 510 for decent prices. (note the 310 has only 3 buttons, vs the 510 having 5). The 510 series also comes in sexy red or cool blue.

cl_decal "0" removes sprays. cl_decal "1" puts them back. That should do it. I always back up default configs. But you can also just delete your .cfg file and HL2 will make a new default one the next time you load it. Of course, you'll have to rebind all your keys etc...

Hrmm... well first of all, an apology to all of you that have had to listen to me rant about how crappy my FPS have been. While I haven't totally fixed the issue, I did find out what part of the problem is. Evidently, on the high-end ATI cards (x series), when you disable AA and AAF via the ingame interface it actually lowers your FPS. None of the other settings matter all that much (excluding the cvar tweaks and the dxlevel), but even on dxlevel 70 or 81, you will still have FPS issues with AA or AAF disabled/minimized. If you do it thru the driver interface (forcing it to a setting instead of leaving it on Application Preference) it's fine and it ignores the Valve settings ingame. GG Valve. This was me. I was on a ban frenzy. It was on aztec and there were 4 FF/TK incidents in a row, after each of which, I banned and spammed my traditional CONSOLE: "FF is ON. Do NOT CURSE. Have fun!!" He was the 4th in a row. He FF'd the round before then TK'd at the beginning of the round in CT spawn. If you're vouching for him Congre, then I'm ok with the ban being lifted. That TK at the begining of the round was hardly accidental though... unless the dog was chewing on the mouse while he was afk

Not sure how many of you caught this, but GotFrag announced GameSense Stats during the CPL event. cl_smooth 0? If that's not it then look in console and see if you get any of the PERFORMANCE WARNING messages. I do. And I'm too lazy to re-download and install CS;S. So i just live with it, but it dips my FPS to 40 now and it tweaks the fudge outta me.

There were some minor issues with updating the scorebots/hltv info, but that was primarily on Friday. All other days of the event, it was up to date and well in advance of the actual match. We had some loading issues on the site for a while due to the intense amount of traffic we were getting. As far as our other coverage of the event, it was flat out nuts. GameSense adds a whole new dimension to how an event can be covered and we're very proud of it. It's been a long time in development and largely ultra-hush hush. Look for some VERY cool updates soon. Mooney, my condolences you and your family. My grandfather died from liver and throat cancer. It's not an easy thing to go thru and you've every sympathy from me.

Colt/Ak/Awp/Scout are all about the same. Ak is still accurate single shot to distance, but short bursts are less accurate a distance (1.6, 2-shot burst from ak hits in almost the same point). Colt silenced/unsilenced is almost identical to 1.6. But I think damage drops off at range for the colt silenced. Mp5 is a bit weaker. Spray pattern is wider. Bullets do same amount of damage. All other guns are improved. Pump Shotgun is much more viable weapon now. Back in Beta 7 CS, it was an awesome weapon to counter save rounds. Early on in the game now, it's the same deal. Bursting is the key to every auto-weapon. If you have to spray, aim slowly towards their feet for rifles and towards their waist for SMGs. This differs from 1.6--1.6 you could just start spraying and aim at their feet and it would slowly walk up. In CS-S, recoil is more "realistic", you have to gradually adjust your aimpoint, or else it's just off. AWP/Scout... they're snipers. Action is more similar to 1.5 with the no delay zoom. Or rather, you get the crosshair as you're zooming so it's effectively the same thing. Flick shots seem to go better on CS-S too.

This: http://entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm is powerstrip. Takes a lil doing to figure it out. But you can force gamma adjustments out of game, force your monitor refresh to the max on your monitor as well as tweak settings for specific games (AA, AAF etc).

IMO, Cbble is one of the best maps for pub AND competitive play. It's very balanced. Lots of places to pick and pub rush. Plenty of wide open spaces, but not too many hiding spots. Conflict is channelled nicely between the two bombsites. The only thing that really sucks about it is the B bombsite is so far and so open. But they couldn't change that without ruining the balance on the map.
