mongoloido March 1, 2005 Share mongoloido Member March 1, 2005 Dunno if this is the correct forum, but other forums I frequent have a monthly desktop thread to show others how you personalize your computer. Thought it might be nice to see what you guys and gals like having on your screen

mongoloido March 2, 2005 Author Share mongoloido Member March 2, 2005 howd you tint the start bar and all that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I used stylexp... www.tgtsoft.com I think. The other big shell replacement program is litestep. Either one can do really cool stuff to the way your desktop looks.
Brillow_Head March 2, 2005 Share Brillow_Head Member March 2, 2005 I have a boring stock desktop...every time I find something interesting I have to format for some odd reason, stylexp huh...I'll have to check it out.

mongoloido March 2, 2005 Author Share mongoloido Member March 2, 2005 *nudge**nudge* How about you resize it a bit, mmkay? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> kinda defeats the purpose of a desktop thread to shrink the desktops. doesn't much matter. no one here seems interested in actually posting their desktops. mongoloido March 3, 2005 Author Share mongoloido Member March 3, 2005 stylexp and icon packager here. may switch over to litestep eventually though. it seems to do a better job of creating minimalistic desktop shells.
ConGregation March 3, 2005 Share ConGregation Member March 3, 2005 I never cared for the minimalistic desktop shells. I like eye candy I love tweaking my desktop with the shell stuff but I eventually come to the conclusion I need something like stardock's ultimate desktop or something. Not going to shell out money. Plus the idea of wasting resources usually has me just going stock.
Fatty March 3, 2005 Share Fatty GC Founder March 3, 2005 Not that it matters with today's PCs, but from my experience running benchmarks and looking briefly at FPS in game, I believe that windows always knows that these fabulous desktops are drawn behind the scene, and thus impact performance. My previous PC (motions to left, monitor right), was top of the line for a short period of time. I tested the graphic speeds with tests with and without some of those simple Windows backgrounds that are included. Noticable differences! Some of these desktops I see are incredible! Have you ever tested your PC graphic performance with and without them on? In the end, I'm with Fox (save for my gazillion files and shortcuts that clutter my desktop....which probably equal a darn beautiful picture of something as far as performance goes! )
Acid-Flux March 3, 2005 Share Acid-Flux Member March 3, 2005 Here is mine, I cant do much with it cause it's windows xp-64bit. I tried using style xp, and have been waiting for stardock to release their 64-bit version for awhile now. They said they would release it last month, but to no avail. Anyways here is mine

Pretty neat seeing as it doesnt take any extra system resources
