lazarus June 4, 2007 Share lazarus Member June 4, 2007 Okay, so i'm moving into a smaller apt and my wife can't stand my 22" behemoth crt monitor. it's been with me for 4 years and no complaints, but is the time to put it to pasture and upgrade. So she has given me the greenlight to get a flatpanel of my choice bw 200-300 dollars. I turn to you fine gentlemen and women for advice. I haven't upgraded in a while and while I could spend 1-2 months doing the research, I'm sure you guys have a fountain of information waiting to spill forth. So, what I'm looking for is something under 300 (not including shipping) and equal to or greater than 20". and I'm looking for reliability and something great for gaming esp css. I've found this one at newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16824001095 Any help?
appalachian_fox June 4, 2007 Share appalachian_fox Member June 4, 2007 I think the monitor's been around longer...You may need to put the young lady out to pasture. That beast of a monitor of yours is probably heavier, too. Plus, you could always wait for her to leave on an errand and change the locks while she's gone. I really think you need to consider your options.
VooDooPC June 4, 2007 Share VooDooPC Member June 4, 2007 I bought the 206BW in April and I love it. I had a 22" inch CRT from 1999 that was getting horrible gray curved lines all over the place for a year or so and was becoming really blurry. When I bought this monitor it was SOO nice. I have a friend who has a 226BW and he loves his monitor too. It's extremely bright compared to my old CRT, my eyes hurt the first 2 or 3 days it was so bright. After a bit I got used too it and now it's no problem. The clarity is amazing as well, I can't help but run games with 16x Anisotropic Filtering now. This is one of the few computer parts I have bought that was so worth the price I didn't even bother doing the mail-in rebate. Some people complain about the LED light on the power button, but it really doesn't distract me even if I am playing in the dark.
Sgt. Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass June 5, 2007 Share Sgt. Slaughterâ„¢-TopBrass Member June 5, 2007 Here is what I have. I like it a lot. ZERO dead pixles or stuck pixles. If you go LCD I recomend buy from circuitcity(where I got mine) or Best Buy. Some thing along those lines. That way if there are Dead/stuck pixels you can return it and get a diff one. alvin June 5, 2007 Share alvin Member June 5, 2007 If your computer can handle it.. I'd say push for the 22" version! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16824001096 It's $314 but you save $35! Plus there's a $20 rebate so that will barely put it under your $300 budget. Oh, there's also shipping. But yeah, that's just me. I'd say it'd be worth it though.

Dingy June 6, 2007 Share Dingy Member June 6, 2007 I ditched my 19 inch CRT last Christmas because it wouldn't fit on my new desk. So I had to buy something that fit as well... I got the 22 inch (widescreen) viewsonic (VX2235WM) because it was on sale. Granted, it has built-in speakers, but I don't use them (kind of cheesy sound anyway). The buttons are interesting (you need to try them first). Other than that, a pretty darn good monitor. Check out the Samsung and the Viewsonic. See what you think. I certainly don't think you'd hate whatever decision you make! GL-HF!

Playaa June 6, 2007 Share Playaa Member June 6, 2007 yep, pretty much every single 22" you see on the market, the screen is actually produced by Chimei. There are a couple out there that aren't, but most are. Acer is one of the ones that isn't made by Chimei that I know of (and I own the Acer and can't really recommend it...it works just fine and all...but just doesn't "feel" worth the price)
lazarus June 6, 2007 Author Share lazarus Member June 6, 2007 i think im gonna go with the chimei, specs look just as good as the others, and i can get a bigger monitor for slightly cheaper. thanks for all the advice guys. esp you preach
Magruter June 6, 2007 Share Magruter Member June 6, 2007 I know you've pretty much made up your mind, but this is a pretty good resource when you're looking for a cheap upgrade on a monitor. http://dealnews.com/categories/Computer/Pe...onitors/75.html http://dealnews.com/deals/20-LCD-Monitor-R...ore/171328.html Here's a chimei, but it has an 8ms reponse time.. Or if bestbuy carries it, here's a 10% off coupon! http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/en_US...upons_final.pdf
