Laz.e.rus April 11, 2010 Share Laz.e.rus Member April 11, 2010 (edited) Finally broke down and bought Vantage. I ran it 3 different ways: 1 - No PhysX enabled. 2- PhysX enabled on the 8800gt 3- PhysX enabled on the 275GTX. Everything completely 100% stock (CPU and GPUs). Im excited to run it later with some CPU/GPU OCs. It made a huge difference in '06, so we'll see about Vantage. Scores follow the order above reversed ( The 275 PhysX is fastest): EDIT: What the!? I attached it normally. If you click it its the right size :/ Edited April 11, 2010 by Laz.e.rus
bushwack January 10, 2011 Share bushwack Member January 10, 2011 My wife was nice enough to get a GeForce GTX 460 for Christmas. My scores might seem a little low but I am running just a 2mb dual core and a stock PNY. 3dMark Vantage: P16066 3DMarks compare 3dMark 11 : P2951 3DMarks compare According to my Vantage scores my new 460 is roughly 45% faster then my old 260 which scores P11032. compare 260 How does that translate into the real world? Playing Fallout New Vegas on the 260 I ran it at 1920x1200 and somewhere between high/ultra and 2x AA, where on the 460 I can run at 1920x1200, ultra and 4x AA and still seems a bit smoother. bushwack April 13, 2011 Share bushwack Member April 13, 2011 (edited) Upgrade! Picked up Sandy Bridge parts. Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz $225 ASRock P67 EXTREME4 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 $155 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 $100 (had a 30 off coupon) Stats? 3dMark Vantage: E5200 @ 4.0 w/GTX 460 P16066 3DMarks i5 2500K @ default 3.3 w/GTX 460 P18053 3DMarks 3dMark 11: E5200 @ 4.0 w/GTX 460 P2951 3DMarks i5 2500K @ default w/GTX 460 P3503 3DMarks I realy like the ASRock motherboard so far, even though I told myself I would never buy blow 150 bucks on a mobo again. But it has some cool feature and providing it lasts at least 3-4 years it will be worth it. Cool factor: Has the new EUFI instead of BIOS, can run SLI or Crossfilre, has a lit clear CMOS button on the back panel next to the PS/2 ports, lit power and reset buttons on the motherboard, diagnostic LED readout, supports LGA 1155 and 775 heatsinks. Was able to use my previous Arctic Freezer saving me $30+. Oh and has USB 3 front bay panel. The G.Skill has the XMP function, go into the BIOS, um, I mean the EUFI, pull up the XMP profile and it sets your RAM speed and timings according to the manufacturers specs. Pretty sweet. I love to overclock, and the 2500K is unlocked, but... seems needless right now. Even the 2 year old $42 E5200 pushes my new GTX 460 to it's limits. I did notice the i5 did climb up to 3.6ghz, the auto turbo function does work as claimed ,but in reality it's only 10%??? Yes, the CPU cooler is at a slight rotation. The 1155 cooler mounts are placed normally and the 775 mounts are slightly rotated. I reused my old 775 Arctic Freezer 7 Pro. I so want to drop another GTX 460 in here. bushwack June 17, 2012 Share bushwack Member June 17, 2012 (edited) Decided to put off buying a new car and sink the car payment into a new video card. So far this bad boy Asus Geforce GTX 670 TOP is worth tooling around in my old Alero for another month. If it holds together for another month... I have been running a pair of GTX 460's in SLI for about 6 months, but it can be a drag if you want to run 3 monitors. Running SLI mode shuts off your 3rd monitor, unless you want to run the game in surround. My problem is my 3 monitor setup isn't fully compatible with surround (1x 1920x1200 & 2x 1600x1200) and besides most games don't support it so you end up with a stretched out mess and game menu problems. Great thing is Nvidia finally brings support to 4 monitors with 1 video card and that makes things much better on my end. So far the 670 is about 33% faster then my old pair of 460's. The 670 was $430 and I had paid a total of $365 for the 460's. 3DMark 11 scores: P6995 > Intel 2500K @ 4.0 with 2x GTX 460's in SLI http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3606026 P9249 > Intel 2500K @ 4.0 with GTX 670 http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3613292 This card is looOOOoong. had to move a hard drive to get it to fit. VooDooPC June 17, 2012 Share VooDooPC Member June 17, 2012 I'm waiting until next year or 2014 at least. With new consoles coming out games MIGHT actually push PC hardware. Right now the only things that push them are crummy ports or PC exclusives.

All these games began on some nerd's PC and was later made into a console. I'm not saying consoles are catching up with PCs, I'm saying consoles are holding back PCs. With a new generation of consoles there will be a lot better hardware for console developers to work with, which will create better looking games than what we have now. For the most part 90% of PC games that aren't indie games are ports, ports of games made for 6 year old hardware.

If it holds together for another month... I thought I missed a whole generation. Fixed now. I'm thinking the PC is holding the PC back. Take Diablo 3, major release, can run just fine on 5 year old hardware. But kinda looks like a 5 year old game. Preacher June 20, 2012 Share Preacher Member June 20, 2012 I actually was thinking the exact thing about CS:GO. It looks good but not really a major step forward. I want to see a change like when Oblivion came on the scene and Farcry before that. Right now, due to an RMA, I have a GTX260 in my system and it still will play games like Skyrim, Cysis series and even solitaire on the highest settings. So software has definitely lagged far behind hardware.

Animal February 22, 2013 Share Animal Member February 22, 2013 What do you use this monster for? Looks great! :jealousy: I mostly use it for gaming but I do a lot of graphic design as well. I'd like to get into music production or dj'ing at some point but it'd be more of a passing hobby than a legit interest. Nice system! Is it fairly quiet? Yeah surprisingly quiet. I don't own a decibel reader but it's surpassed my expectations for noise level. You can barely tell it's on. Whenever I make room for my GeekDesk I'll post photos of the whole setup. Gonna be sick!
