firefox 3.05b (yes, i know its beta) is crashing every third new window. it's awesome. firefox 2 was going upwards of 200m in memory if left open for more than an hour. sure, you can kill the process, but uh, are you supposed to?

are there any other browsers out there worth trying that's NOT opera, ie, or safari?

and why's it so hard to make a decent friggen browser?

it's awesome.

Agreed.

Perfectly excellent even in beta, low memory usage, no crashes in forever across XP, Vista Home and Vista Pro, at least for me... ^_^

I recommend you get a Leading Edge 8086 machine and use Gopher for your interweb excursions. :propeller:

Otherwise, aside from getting a new machine that doesn't suck, Opera?

i haven't had any problems with the latest firefox 2 build. maybe i just don't leave my browser windows open for hours at a time...

I have left the browser open for hours with no problems or slowdowns. One time I did notice it was around 200mb but with 4gb who cares? :prplwacko:

Netscape!

Which has died. I suggest you try and find FF3b4. It seems really stable to me and has more add-on support then b5. Like you said, it's a beta. You can't expect to run right. As for alternate browsers, have you looked into the Maxthon overlay for IE?

links opening new tabs/windows seem to be the cause, but only sporadically. maybe it's got to do with that sp3 i wasn't supposed to install. i'm not running random extensions, just greasemonkey, del.icio.us, and adblock plus. why internetz why?!
