Guest zerodamage August 7, 2004 Share Guest zerodamage Guests August 7, 2004 Mine will be interesting when I get cable set up. I will be sharing my cable with my neighbor who lives 50 feet away. I will be sending him some bandwidth via wireless connection.

NOFX August 8, 2004 Share NOFX Member August 8, 2004 BB, do u have trouble with your DI-604? My room gets so hot that mine always shuts down. Had to find a new room to put it in.
Lunk August 8, 2004 Share Lunk Member August 8, 2004 SBC DSL Modem connected to a Linksys 802.11b wireless router with 4 hardwire ports. Which is connected to a Linksys Wireless Signal Booster. I've got 2 desktop pc's hardwired to the router. One desktop using a pci wireless adapter card to connect. And 2 laptops connected wireless to the router. My next addition will be a Linksys Printer server. So I can hook my 2 printers to it. And not have to turn on the one pc all the time just to print. Bubblegum Bandit August 8, 2004 Share Bubblegum Bandit Member August 8, 2004 NOFX....Yes, I had lots of trouble with my 604 overheating.....I did a small mod and have had no trouble with it since.....I gotta run right now but when I get back I'll try and find you a picture of the mod I did. Birdman August 8, 2004 Author Share Birdman Member August 8, 2004 Nice setups fellas. Im wanting to go wireless, but I need to get a laptop so it'll make sense to do so. smoothwall rox So True. One of the best pieces of free software I have ever used. Unfortunately the harddrive just died in it from a overheating problem in the room were I had the computer. I had an up time of about 3 months on the smoothie there for awhile though and then the power went out. It was super stable. So I'm back to a crappy unreliable constantly disconnecting Linksys router.
appalachian_fox August 9, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member August 9, 2004 BB, I'd be interested to see the mod pic, too, because my friend has a 604 that we relocated for heat reasons and I had an older DLink that I had RMAd twice in a year and a half for burning up. I can forward that info to him.
NOFX August 9, 2004 Share NOFX Member August 9, 2004 I think i have seen it before? Take the casing off and put a fan on top of it?
Bubblegum Bandit August 9, 2004 Share Bubblegum Bandit Member August 9, 2004 I cut the back half of the casing off, so I can still see the leds in the front and attached a fan to one side blowing over its guts.....Haven't had a problem since....NOFX, that is probably mine you are remembering. appalachian_fox August 11, 2004 Share appalachian_fox Member August 11, 2004 Is the fan wired into the wall-wart (power adapter)? How fancy is the mod, or is it just a desk fan on top? I imagine that'd work fine, and it'd be really easy.
Bubblegum Bandit August 11, 2004 Share Bubblegum Bandit Member August 11, 2004 the fan is just a 90mm case fan screwed into the side of the case and I just increased the wire lenght so it can plug into a connector in my comp. Its pretty ghetto but it works.
