Lunk November 18, 2006 Share Lunk Member November 18, 2006 New Valve Anti-Cheat technology caught a few people cheating in Counter-Strike: Source and other games this week -- over 10,000. VAC detects anyone using cheat software and permanently bans their Steam account. We expect to see a surge of forum posts laying blame squarely at the feet of "my little brother." Allanon November 20, 2006 Share Allanon Member November 20, 2006 So does that mean they've reached the 10,000 marker or they recently got a huge bunch of hackers?
it3llig3nc3 November 20, 2006 Share it3llig3nc3 Member November 20, 2006 Awesome! A-W-E-S-O-M-E. Probably Valve was looking for some boost for the quarterly financial results so quickly generated sales for CS:S licenses Also considering the 10,000 number: According to the server stats at steampowered currently (at the time of writing this post) there are 51,000 players - it means 20% cheats. Every 5th person... Remarkable. If you think a 23 player GC server it mathematically means 4 cheaters when the server is full :D
mookie November 20, 2006 Share mookie GC Alumni November 20, 2006 Actually that's just instantaneously; I don't know of anywhere that Steam keeps interesting stats like how many unique players per day. I do notice that CS:S seems to be creeping up on CS.
