  1. After what seems like at least 6 weeks of no free time in the evenings, I think I'll be able to get back on the server, if not this week, definitely this weekend.
  2. I have two D-Link DWL-G550 IEEE 802.11b/g wireless cards running on pcs in my office downstairs with the wireless router upstairs, no line of sight, floors and walls between it and the router (D-Link DGL-4300 IEEE 802.3/3u) and I've never had any issues with the signal dropping. I paid around $100 for each wireless card when I bought them, and I see they're now down to $60 on Newegg. I'd buy one again in a heartbeat, I've been really pleased with it, but I know that they're not exactly new and there's probably better choices out there.
  3. I had exactly the same symptoms when a mobo died on me.
  4. Mini, does IT service the internal customer (i.e. helpdesk folks and ultimately clients) or is this an IT helpdesk servicing just external clients? I would have thought that may have some bearing on the mission statement. I.e. servicing customers or providing business solutions to yourselves. Not sure if it does make any difference as I know if you're internal then you still have customers (the business) but you're more of a support organization than a profit center. Hope that makes sense.

    Hmm...

Orgasmo, a great movie, but I'm guessing not one of The Geeks favorites.
  6. I picked this up on Sunday and have probably got around 3 hours under my belt, I'm really getting pulled in by the story. I've just taken control of the Normandy and travelled to my first planet, so I'm really not far in, but am really enjoying this for the story more than the game itself (I really have to agree with points 2 and 3 of Boiler's post above). In my experience in very few games do you get a sense of being a part of the story rather than being carried along by it, this is definitely one where you feel a part of it.
  7. It won't necessarily be a problem on your pc, it could well be someone duping your email address and they don't even need to have actual access to your account to do so, I've had it happen to me (on a previous work email address). Definitely do a scan, but it's quite possible that you'll not find anything.
  8. I'd agree on that when the server's full, but last night there were only 4-8 people on the server at around 10pm CST and when there are only 2 -3 people on a team, that respawn time can make it near impossible. In fact at one point I was red with 2 on blue, and obviously as soon as I was killed, you've lost the map, it's not encouraging to get in there and stay to try and get the server going if all you need to do is die once, get a 10-15 second respawn and you've lost the round.
  9. I know that feeling, I haven't been online at all for a week, and will not be on again until January 6th I wouldn't think. Just hopped on now to check email and the forums.
  10. Woohoo, nice surprise present. Not that a week of golf in Portugal was a bad Christmas present, but a free ticket to FF08 is definitely comparable.............
  11. I just want to play Christmas Crash with some GC folks.
  12. Want us to come back? I actually left because I thought we might have some folks playing TF2, but nope, it's empty.................
  13. All of the controls for this game are pretty intuitive, I think you'd have issues doing the free running in first person............................. I've played Oblivion and some Tomb Raider games previously on consoles so it's certainly not alien to me, but I don't think it would be at all difficult to pick up from scratch. I actually find 3rd person much easier to pick up and play than fps on consoles.
  14. I've been enjoying it, as boilersax says, the fighting is excellently animated, the free running is superb. I wouldn't rate it in the top 10 games I've ever played from a story standpoint, but those things which it does well make for a hugely enjoyable gaming experience, I'd certainly give it 8 or more out of 10. Just as a side note, my wife doesn't play much on the 360 (other than lego star wars), she's much more of a Wii person. If I'm playing Forza or most of my other games she'll ask me to turn it off if she wants to be in the same room, but she actually enjoys watching Assassin's Creed (much the same as when I was playing a lot of Oblivion).
  15. Last week was busy with work, Christmas parties, end of year management meetings etc. I'm out of the country from the 21st until January the 6th, so won't be around then either, but I'm still very much into COD4.
  16. Like Voodoo says above I've been mixing mine fairly regularly at the moment trying to work my way through challenges. I do have 1 that I don't see switching around much though: M4 with Silencer and blue tiger stripes 3x grenade Stopping Power Last Stand
  17. Just to continue hijacking Unclean's thread, they do have an item that's still selling like you wouldn't believe. I personally think the DS has more to do with Nintendo's current high than the "elusive" Wii. We have a Wii, I think it's fantastic and it's great fun for all the family, don't get me wrong I'm certainly not knocking it, but I can't believe from a financial standpoint for Nintendo that it's had anywhere near the impact the DS has had for them. In fairness, they have the handheld market wrapped up pretty well. I think from the numbers I've seen recently Nintendo actually shipped over 600,000 DS during the Thanksgiving week, over 40,000,000 since they were released in 2004. Admitedly the 6,000,000+ Wiis is impressive as well, but I couldn't get my head around the total number of DSs sold in the US when I first read it, particularly when you think about the games and accessories market as well.
  18. I never would have thought that people would still be paying double retail cost just over a year since release date. Nintendo really nailed this one. I see it the other way, Nintendo really messed this one up. If they had more consoles out there, instead of someone buying one for 250 and selling it for 500 they could have two people buying 1 console each for 250 each. Nintendo never sees the other 250 dollars right now. Not counting the software and accessories they're not selling to people who simply can't find a Wii to use them with.
  19. Yeah, it's quite frustrating to fire off 4 shots with tha sniper rifle at a stationary target and none hit, fingers crossed it's fixed. I think it was you and I on bloc voodoo, when the other night we both must have fired off 5 shots at each other even though neither of us were moving, neither of us hit each other.
  20. I ran it and it took about 20-30 minutes if I remember correctly, certainly not an hour and a half. (Assuming 06 is the new one................)
  21. I switched to NOD32 on Cujo's recommendation when doing 3 fresh installs on our home pcs. I've had no issues what so ever with it, been incredibly happy, it seems to require minimal maintenance with a very small footprint. The deal they have for up to 3 pcs seems very good value as well.
  22. Yeah, I think if we can switch the server up between sabotage (hint hint), headquarters and perhaps domination we should see more traffic. I know this isn't the server suggestions thread, but perhaps have 1 night a week which is sabotage, 1 that's domination (if that's the one with a, b and c flag points) with the default being hq?
  23. Going to be here in the office for another hour or so, I'll be on there probably around 10-10:30 EST.
  24. From my understanding most punching bags actually have the sand in a "bag within a bag", with some other material around them. I'm guessing you could use a canvas duffel bag or something with old clothes inside surrounding the bag containing the sand? The only issue I could see is that canvas isn't that forging a fabric, so you'd probably want some gloves as well. I think the problem is that whatever you make it out of it's probably going to break/split at the seams after enough use either way.
