There will be a lot of women going to FF06 thet she could mingle with, both gamers and non-gamers as well. I'm pretty sure Ebildustbunny & Girlgamer are in. In fact, I believe those two are bunking up together. If you want I can see if they want another to share the cost. Let me know.
Chamberlain February 4, 2006 Share Chamberlain Member February 4, 2006 (edited) Thanks, but I have no problem having my sis bunk in the same room as me. Allows me to keep an eye out for her! She doesn't play any online games she just like to play stuff on her own. I can't really say no to her wanting to spend a few days out of the house with her bro. If she doesn't have to pay that'd be sweet! But i think she may want to play some games (single player stuff) and just chill. Dunno really what this event is about or how it works. Its new to me, and would be cool having my sis with me. Edited February 4, 2006 by Chamberlain
wayfarer February 5, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member February 5, 2006 Chester, I probably asked this already, but I can't find it. How old is your sister? She's over 19 right? Mr Duke has already posted the legal drinking age in Ohio is 21. I'm not sure what she is expecting game wise, but if your briggin a comp down for her to play on then she should purchase a seat. If you don't want to pay you can hook it up in the room, but that's no fun. All the mingleing will be in the main room. Besides if she's hooked up in the main room we'll find something for her to play. A lot of other games besides CSS going on too.

wayfarer February 8, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member February 8, 2006 Those of you still pondering about going should probably get off the fence one way or another. Seats are 1/2 sold already. If you have any inclination to go, you should probably start planning A.S.A.P.

wayfarer February 10, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member February 10, 2006 Ok, without Chamber's sister that's 5. We can all fit (like sardines) into my vehicle. Rooms are $79.99 U.S. per night. We can fit 4 people to a room, but there are 2 double beds. (meaning thats based on dbl occupancy) Seeing as I KNOW I'm not sharing a bed with someone else, we'll have to get a cot, or an air mattress or something. Estimation for 5 people: 2 nights hotel - $319.96 U.S. Gas (3 tanks) - $165.00 U.S. Looking at $97.00 U.S. each at this point. providing no one else jumps on board. Chamberlain February 10, 2006 Share Chamberlain Member February 10, 2006 What day are we going to get there? Like thursday afternoon, thursday night or friday?
wayfarer February 10, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member February 10, 2006 I was thinking taking off Friday morning around 4-5:00Am or so. That way we get there with plenty of time to enjoy Friday, and we still avoid a 3rd night of hotel fees. Your going to need Friday off no matter what way you look at it. Redhawke February 11, 2006 Share Redhawke Member February 11, 2006 As much as I would love to, with articling and whatnot going on around such a time, there's far too much uncertainty, and so I'll have to just count myself out at this stage. Hopefully next year will fare a bit better for me.

potato salad February 12, 2006 Share potato salad Member February 12, 2006 Scourge and myself are probably coming down, but theres still a great hint of uncertainty. He has a lot of stuff planned in that space of time so hes not sure himself, and then theres my situation. I need to save up for this, get a passport, age of majority card and a whole bunch of other papers. I would also like to get my computer upgraded a bit more. I don't think its in the current condition to go to a gaming event (yes I have high standards). I don't think I'll be able to get the tickets until April, possibly even May at the latest. I'll have to hope it doesn't sell out by then.
wayfarer February 12, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member February 12, 2006 get a passport, age of majority card and a whole bunch of other papers. What papers are you referring to? You don't need a passport. a valid Ontario drivers licence will get you through. If you don't have that then a age of majority card.

It may be just for Americans travelling abroad, but having a passport is going to become necessary to get into the USA in the near future. I've never had one, but also never had any trouble crossing the border in either direction. However, if my wife and I go to Canada for a fishing vacation again this summer sometime, we'll prolly have to get them. That's just what I've been hearing around here. Might not be a bad idea to get a passport, could make the border crossings much easier, and possibly faster.
wayfarer February 12, 2006 Author Share wayfarer Member February 12, 2006 A passport certainly makes things easier. Absoloutly. For awhile there, not too long ago, the U.S. government was going to make it mandatory for Canadians disireing to cross the border to produce a valid passport. They have recently abandoned that idea due to the obvious strain it would cause at the border. A valid drivers licence will still get you across. potato salad February 12, 2006 Share potato salad Member February 12, 2006 Yah I don't have that. Everyone I asked about the passport said it may need be mandatory, but I should do it anyway. I just don't want anything complicated to happen at the border and if a passport is gonna get me through faster, so be it.

I just said I'm going to get the passport because I'm doing a lot of other traveling this year too. You'll only need the license or AOM card to cross, and bring your birth certificate just in case. The license is probably easier to get then the AOM card too, less hassle. As for ticket purchase, I'm not even going to try to get them before June. If the sell out before then, so be it. I won't be able to make the decision until then anyway. -George -laughing at people with no snow tires!
