Oh yeah, Dragonfire, this might be the reason why we saw Level 60s in the player finder window:

At least the game is providing constant amusement even when you can't log in - in addition to these funny bits, there is a word going around that some major exploits are also making rounds involving item duplication and greatly accelerated leveling by abusing a very easy quest that is infinitely re-doable.

I've gotta find me that quest...

...Unless they're patching it.

i'd definitely try to find it to get some easy levels if i were you.

just curious how long does the trial period last when you buy the game before you have to start paying a monthly fee?

The thing I can't stand about MMORPGs more than the monthly fee is that the games come out 1/2 finished and they say they will fix and add all the stuff they promised later. Which more often than not, doesn't happen.

I understand a monthly fee pays for bandwidth, tech support and more content later, but I don't understand why they release a game that isn't done and doesn't work properly.

A little note about monthly fees. I was very skeptical at first as well, but before I started playing MMO's I was buying

a minimum of one game per month at a cost of $65.00+ a piece. I think I've bought 2 games since picking up WoW

about 2 years ago. You make alot of friends & theres always more to do. I would say your main concern about MMO's

should be whether you have the time to sink into them, not the monthly fee.

true but for a college student like myself spending the extra 15 bucks a month is too much for me when i compare to cs:s where i dont need anything other than internet access which i already will have at school for school work and such. plus i cant justify spending the 15 bucks a month unless i require myself to play x amount of hours which during the school year isn't always possible if i actually want decent grades.

as far as the money going to upgrade the game/make improvements. i dont buy it, sorry, but look at old games like diablo 2 for one all those updates and such came out without paying a monthly fee. i really just think 15 dollars is outrageous cause are you really getting 50 cents a day in updates per day doubtful. another thing there are plenty of free servers that i've played on with mmo's that i often find the game play to be better and faster pace. I've played on a few different free lineage 2 servers for awhile that spend up the game play not taking hours on end just to make a minimal progress. granted it didnt have the huge player based compared to if i were to pay to play per month but still enough people to be able to pvp and such.

i guess enjoy paying to play your mmo's and instead i'm play them for free via free servers. oh btw i never spent a dime on Lineage 2 either.

I guess I really dont understand completely how it all works, I have never done this....so if you have a huge circle of friends, you can all just move together in a huge pack and kill stuff? And how hard is the combat system to learn?....keep in mind that I have only played Witcher and fps games.

Free servers are illegal, retail lineage 2 was better. The slower pace meant that you had to pick your battles more carefully in pvp because the xp loss on death was uber. Diablo 2 on the other hand, didn't have massive servers, and only had one big content update (1.10). Also, they deleted your character for inactivity, so they saved space. So they didn't need money for server maintenance etc. The illegal servers you played Lineage 2 on made up for the necessary monthly fee by raking in huge profits off donations and giving richer players better gear. 15 dollars a month is 3 trips to fast food, I can give that up to play a game with all of my friends and have fun. Guild Wars makes up for it by having districted play to spread the load out over many many servers, I guess they get money for the bandwidth because of how popular it is overseas. I hear they make a killing with pvp stuff in Asia. Any other mmo you ever mention has had a monthly fee, or was terrible, or had a donation based system.

Alright, I got tired of getting ganked all the time so I re-rolled over on the pve server ( Wiccan I think ). Questing on White Sands was almost impossible and now out in the wide world I keep running across this guild called Legion that seem to have no other purpose than to hang around popular quest areas and gang gank everyone. :biglaugha:

Oh, we've got an anti-gank guild going on... and we were escorting VooDoo through the White Sands area and a few others. Scuba, what level did you stop at on Stormrage?

And ganking only seems bad in the beginning areas, because lots of people can do it. You can just switch instances, and there will be totally different people in them. Also, ganking is a lot harder after the training part (lvl20) is done. If you want, we can help ya quest in the beginning parts and kill anyone that tries to gank you. DragonFire and I love doing that... I'm sure Jackie would be down for it too. :)

Hopefully someone else will add you to our guild - but in the meantime, here are some names you should add:

Nikolas (my main, level 28 ranger)

Unclean (alt, level 18? necro)

Dragonfire

Tynamite

Voodoopc

Some of them will be on this weekend, and I'll be on Monday night or Tuesday for sure.

Im thinking about doing

http://feats.goonheim.com/ranger#t0a5b5e5i...2p3t2a5b5h3j3p3

or

http://feats.goonheim.com/ranger#t0a5b5t1a...5y1t2a5b5h3j3p3

for a pvp focused ranger, depending on how effective marked target is, and whether it procs a lot on people, or is more of a boss debuff...

Im also rolling a conqueror for pve (I <3 paladins, they just tend to suck at pvp); but I haven't looked at the feats for it in depth yet

any suggestions/comments? ;o

How about a slight change to your second build...

http://feats.goonheim.com/ranger#t0a5b5t1a...5y1t2a5b5h3j3p3

Dropped crossbow specialization + added toughness.

Otherwise it looks good. :) I'll probably roll this build or something very similar to it.

lol unclean, you have to copy the link where it says to copy, not the address bar link, you posted the same build :P

I figured 2% evasion would be good to get out of some combos that lead to bleeding/knockdown etc. Even if they hit you for 95% damage the effect will go through under toughness. Also, if I'm primarily pinning down and kiting, the toughness would be a non issue, but I'll try playing around with all 3 builds later when I get higher level

I haven't looked in game to see how long it lasts and that site doesn't say. :P

I will probably end up changing this anyway now that I think about it a bit more and have been able to actually read the official forums.

Looking more like this now:

http://feats.goonheim.com/necromancer#t0t1...5e3f5g5h3i3k1o2

I'm trying to buff up Runed Flesh as much as I can because it's the only thing that keeps me alive for more than a few seconds and it works party wide. Also Pestilence Blast and Parasitic Soul storm because I like those two spells.

Depends... do you like MMORPGS? If so, what kind?

Not sure the last one I really played a lot of EVE and I liked that...I enjoy something very epic and have a lot of options, nothing to linear...
