Survivor takes a lot more babysitting and team work, sending points and such. Where as infected you can just land 4 or 5 high pounces and buy a tank by a hittable to end the round. Basically its a lot easier to carry some noobs on infected than it is to carry them on survivors.

A single survivor can potentially protect and carry the entire survivors team to the safe room.

A single SI player can deal a good amount of damage, but only once every 20 seconds or so. Alone, he won't accomplish much unless he's good enough to solo takeout the whole survivors team as tank.

I always preach it the other way around...all it takes is one bad survivor to screw the whole team over. It takes tons of teamwork to help that guy in the back out, esspecially if he's incapped in a bad spot. I do think that it takes a lot of skill and teamwork to play as infected and destroy the other team, but not as much as it takes for survivors to make it to that saferoom on a long level (The Sacrafice comes to mind).

Granted, playing as survivors against an infected team with absolutely no teamwork except for that 1 guy who's getting all the pounces and tank points isn't so hard, and most of the time the survivors make it through the map with no hiccups. It's a very fine balance.

Nevertheless, I voted Survivors.

There are several things to take into account for both.

On the Survivor side, knowing bottle neck spots and how to prevent them from being exploited by the other team, listening to infected players spawning because each time they spawn in they WILL make sounds, being a good shot, taking advantage of your surroundings, baiting infected attacks, wallbanging, Brett Favreing your molotovs (my coined term for it), communicating, stopping a coordinated attack so you have free reign to move through the level without issue for 20ish seconds...

On the Infected side, targeting one specific player to slow them down, getting good rocket booms in, chaining attacks, timing, coordination, communication, knowing how to play a Tank and when to play aggressively or passively depending on the situation, intercepting Survivors saving other Survivors, separating Survivors, setting up known "death spots" for you and your team, backing up non-pinning infected players (jockeys, spitters, boomers, tanks).

In all honesty though, Survivors are built to be OP unless an Infected team has one really big factor: Coordination. If you can coordinate an attack, Survivors have no chance. If you don't, Survivors will just steamroll through everything and beat each level no problem. A good Survivor team requires good eyes and ears. A good Infected team requires brains which is why I chose Infected.

lol, all the noobs chose survivors, lololololol

GC Server Admin

Getting people to co-ordinate attacks as infected at bottle-neck areas is basically impossible - not many people want to set up in advance, just play their own game then leave it too late to do anything.

listening to infected players spawning because each time they spawn in they WILL make sounds
This leads onto another topic, which I won't mention here, because not many people know about this and we don't want people to use this - I only found out a couple of days ago when being told about it.

too true i like to be nice and spend my points and upgrade the special spawn slots however there is 1 map that i just get 5 booms in and get a tank and 98% of the time the team dies at my hands in the first 2.5 minutes of the game, some people have the tank & car gift where in they know exactly where to hit it and get it over crazy obstacles. so look out when your running through the park

I say both. It also really depends on a map because of narrow halls, tunnels, ect etc, which you have proper spawn block or to do boom cover for tank in small/larger area with big open gallery. I know some part of maps have a disposal for minimum spawn area, especially to fly with a SI into crowd of survivors

Because this poll implies multiple players, I voted infected.

People don't have to be particularly good to win as survivors, in my opinion. So long as you stay with your team, and don't walk facefirst into deathtraps, playing survivor is basically about shooting accurately -- and honestly, you don't have to be that good of a shot to be a helpful survivor player.

Infected, on the other hand, requires a much higher degree of coordination, planning, and situational awareness. Timing is everything as infected, and perfecting timing takes a lot more experiene than developing the muscle memory to shoot well. One to two players can't carry an SI team unless you're playing quite a few noobs you can pick on for points and murder with hittables.

I have to agree with Leonebluen!

With survivor all you have to do is stay alive and shot. U don't have to be the best player or plan anything special. All you have to do is move forward and make sure your team is together. You can also send points to make sure that everyone makes it to the end.

WIth infected you have to plan and executed so that you can kill all the survivors. You can't send points and pray that you don't have a team full of noobs because if you do, your in for a loooong game!

this is really hard for a lot of people for some reason. awareness and listening seems to be a struggle too, you can have a guy pounced or charged like 2 feet behind someone, and they were even stumbled by the collision, but they wont turn around for a good 5 seconds

meng deserves the lifetime award for sending out the most points to people, a lot of people never send points. i only ever send points if people ask for them or if i know they will use them quickly

edit: actually i probably yell at people to tell me how many points they need more than they ask for points

I'd say infected skills are slightly more important than survivor skills. There are some pretty good players on surv who are meh on infected, and don't have much of an impact on the game.

The team with better infected players will score higher in the long run against the team with better survivor players.

Also, you can easily teach someone how to be a decent survivor and putting on headphones is half the battle, whereas infected requires practical experience and timely execution.

I voted infected and set back and read all the argument about this group and that group.

Here's the reality: it goes both ways but one weighs more than the other.

Lets put it like this:

Yoshi pointed out good hunters will quickly get points and buy tanks. True but this server isn't crawling with bada** hunter players AND even if you are great on tank without a good back up you could die quicker than a twister would take your socks off.

Survivors on the other hand, yes one person can bring you down, but I've seen teams cut their losses and move forward in choke points. Plus, we have some really great survivor players who handle the weaker ones by carrying them.

You can't really do that on infected. Oh don't worry about that guy who's only gotten 1 point just leave him be. I mean you get new players holding sputters (cough and some members), or important classes. You get people not coordinating, or setting up in choke points it's like here let us infected escort you to the end.

Basically, one bad survivor can hurt a team if and only if a good infected team capitalized on it. Oh you are diddling in the back no worries all the infected are hitting different people in front so we can just lesiriely walk on through, please feel free to stop and shop. The infected see a choke point straight ahead oh let's all blow our spawns so no ones up. Oh you want me to spit and die no thanks. Oh I have tank points yeah ill just not buy anything. Oh they are 1/2 through the map and no ones bought up chargers and spitters fantastic.

And it works the other way too, a great infected team can destroy a team if you hit those choke points against a team who doesn't spawn block, isn't sending points, is shopping, is hanging to far back, isn't communicating, isn't asking for points.

TL:DR:

You're gonna have a bad time if:

It's all regulars vs new people and one or 2 regulars.

If no one ask or spends points.

If you don't take advantage of the weak, the back, or choke points.

If you have any of the following people on your team: Yoshi, Peanut, Tirtul, Gotyour6, Madvillian, Kitty, Jkap, Meng, or Tonerr.

If wonkas on his a game with hunters.

If Jackie's a bus.

If you don't coordinate, talk, listen, and learn.
