GC L4D2 - Stuff that get's you kicked/banned important

Admins and such that have the power to edit this please do so. After an entry, please add a description of the action and *why* we will kick/ban for it.

 

If you can't and want to add a few cents than just post a reply. Replies will be deleted after awhile to keep the thread more or less as a stickied single post.

 

Note that all of these things can/will result in a kick/ban. Sometimes kick. Sometimes a short ban. Sometimes a forever ban. As with all bans sometimes people get caught in the crossfire. Sorry about that. Just post up in the relevant forum and it'll get taken care of.

 

 

1) Rushing.

What is it: Not staying with the majority of your teammates; rushing ahead of the group.

 

Why is this bad: This is a team game. If you rush ahead the strength of the group is lessened.

 

When is it allowed: When your team has no chance of making it to the saferoom and your teammates give you permission to make a run for it.

2) Camping the safe room at start of game.

What is it: Staying a long time within the safe room at the start of a round. Anything more than four or five minutes without a legitimate reason is bad.

 

Why is this bad: The round will not start unless someone goes outside the safe room.

 

Exceptions: In the process of balancing teams, waiting for someone to join to even the teams.

 

NOTE: Its a game. Get on with it. even if teams are not balanced, staying in the safe room and complaining about it isn't helping. If it's one of those nights, take the night off and play somewhere else, read a book, etc. But you can't camp this room and grief about it.

 

 

3) Language; Encouraging others to grief, spamming voice/text chat.

What is it: Seriously. If you don't know our standards perhaps brush up on them?

Why is it bad: Makes life miserable for everyone else on the server.

 

4) Stacking/ Team switching to win

What is it: Switching to the winning team or team with more players in order to win

Why is it bad: Makes game less fun for the losing team.

When is it allowed: When an admin switches you or you move from the winning team to the losing team to balance the game

 

Additional rules that apply to all GC servers:

Respect others by

* not deriding other players for their shortcomings

* not whining about other players' success or your own failure

* not insulting others

 

Be polite by

* not using foul language or pornography

* not making racist, sexist, or otherwise bigoted comments

* not intentionally disrupting gameplay

 

Show sportsmanship by

* being gracious as a winner and as a loser

* making an effort to help your team win

* not exploiting weaknesses in the game to your advantage

 

Keep your screen names in line with the above. We'll let a little innuendo slide, sometimes, but generally we'd rather you'd keep it classy.

 

Basically? Are you being a dick? If yes, then stop. If no, good job!

i'd like to point out that the untouchable achievement kicks in at 3 mins so the 4/5 min limit should be for closed door/ unstarted games only. i think started games should begin within 30 secs unless an admin says otherwise

Untouchable doesn't activate until the round starts (someone leaves the saferoom).

Not to be an arse about it, but rushing for distance (as a main) when you and others are certain that the team is doomed at that point is a valid strategy.

Another exception about Saferoom Camping might be the one when there's a tank to fight just at the start of the map. That's a good strategy to kill the tank faster.

Cursing : This is a clean server and we wish it to remain this way, if you have trouble in understanding that, this may not be the place for you to be.

 

Bot Spamming : This is very annoying especially when several people are doing it simultaneously which is all too common when new people are in game. Personally, I don't have a problem when it's done once or twice, but when it becomes consistent and after being warned untold times, it's infuriating that people don't stop after being told repeatedly not to do so - most admins don't issue bans for this, a simple kick should get the message across.

 

Attitudes: People should always read the MOTD - most new people don't. If you respect the server rules we will indeed reciprocate and we welcome all players here.

 

It was your attitude and constant debating rules/issues in game which you ignored on numerous occasions that got you banned. We respect people coming here, but I see no sign of you willing to accept your responsibility in adhering to what is asked, nor do I see an apology or at least an effort on your part to bide by the Server Rules if you wish to be unbanned. Therefore, I will leave the decision in the hands of a Board Member to uplift your ban if they see fit to do so and will respect that decision.

I am assuming this is the section of the rules that covers vocalize commands and vocal radial menus.

 

Some of us have fun with doing a "vocalize laugh" when stuff is said on mic, or something happens. Some of us have a reactive style of humor, were we vocalize "yes" or "no" to situations, statements on mic, or other character vocalizations.

 

It seems to be a really firm and fierce rule.

 

Is it really that bad to use a vocalization every now & then? I don't want to break the rules, but I feel like I've gotten warned about it every time I've played on the servers.

The word was re-phrased in a cryptic-looking way, and I know it's not a curse word, so I typed it again. I got the point, it's a bad word supposedly.

I did a private message to Maestro:

/psay Maestro "Shenanigans is a bad word?"

Then, I got kicked for it. Outrageous. Please, seriously re-evaluate some of these trigger kick words.

 

I've got almost 5,000 hours in L4D2. I've never been banned, votekicked, or even kicked once in my entire life. But I was just now. For saying "shenanigans."

 

This kind of thing really dissuades a 12-month donator/member from wanting to even come back. Come on.

It's the "(I should be banned)" part of it. We don't tolerate racism, it just happens that the filter cannot tell the difference between normal words with partial swears in them.

I understand how the lists go. Having a development/"mod"-related laundry list just in the rear view mirror for my own previous community, I realize it won't be "within the next five minutes."

tk isnt possible on survivors. on infected 99% of the time its an accident.

but yes, if someone is tking on purpose a punishment should be delivered. I'll be sure to include it in the future rules and i'll try to be more aware of it when it happens

Is it possible to have to server rules come up at the connect of the server that list all the rules and state this is your only warning and you have to select that you have read and understand the rules and you accept. Not every time just we your new and this is the first time ever coming to this server not sure how that could be done just a thought.
