stutters February 11, 2007 Share stutters GC Alumni February 11, 2007 It might just be my setup, but I prefer the default ipb skin because it scales to my widescreen display. All of the others just sit in the middle and don't automatically expand to to fill the available space... FWIW- all these skins have 2 modes; 1 for a fixed width (which are linked) and 1 for a dynamic width (not linked). for some reason, someone linked the fixed width's ;p http://www.extremepixels.net/ipb/index.php...&skinid=195 http://www.extremepixels.net/ipb/index.php...&skinid=199 http://www.extremepixels.net/ipb/index.php...&skinid=188 http://www.extremepixels.net/ipb/index.php...&skinid=185 http://www.extremepixels.net/ipb/index.php...&skinid=184 http://www.extremepixels.net/ipb/index.php...&skinid=203 edit: well most of em. a couple are mislinked on their site. anonymo February 12, 2007 Share anonymo Member February 12, 2007 I prefer our default disturbed skin the most and choose black as a second choice. If the masses do really want a bright skin this time around I would definitely pick the Ambience over the Applied skin...

What is easier on the eyes.. having a flashlight shined in your face or looking into darkness?? being able to read without squinting is easier on the eyes. turn your monitor brightness down n00b. My work monitor has the brightness set very high (85 right now) and the default skin isn't too bright. n00bt0r.

I'd rather have a black background while reading semi-bright font, which is why I voted for the Disturbed skin.
shaftiel February 12, 2007 Share shaftiel Member February 12, 2007 I chose Black and Rogue. I like the cooler colored skins, easier on the eyes. Plus the red makes me feel sexy. Shaftiel
Bubblegum Bandit February 12, 2007 Share Bubblegum Bandit Member February 12, 2007 RE: Forum widths.... Most good skins are built to allow you to set them to a certain width or to match page size via a width call in the css. As John pointed out above, the majority of these fall into that category. I personally like the set width when moving back and forth from the site. However, I understand why some of you would rather have full/matching widths. Maybe I can set up each skin to work both ways???

Tristan February 12, 2007 Share Tristan Member February 12, 2007 (edited) Wait there's a dropdown menu at the bottom of the home page to choose which skin you want. You should just add a bunch of skins into the dropdown list and we can all have the one we want. Edited February 12, 2007 by Tristan

YoMamma February 13, 2007 Share YoMamma Member February 13, 2007 I liked Surge. It looked like the most colorful of the skins. The dark ones don't really reflect the warmth of the community
Saris February 13, 2007 Share Saris Member February 13, 2007 (edited) I like disturbed's militaristic look - its fits our community and the kinds of games we play. Everything else would finally complete our package as the Rainbow Committee [at least, in the minds of the lesser intelligent folk.] That, and light hurts my eyes and burns my skin. Fatty February 13, 2007 Author Share Fatty GC Founder February 13, 2007 Hmmm...... It's $30 / skin.....I was planning on spending $90 on Disturbed, Applied, and Ambience. However, when I was looking at the items, I noticed that for $160 you can have access to all the IPB skins (two pages). I though, what if we can find 7 people to toss in $10 each, and we could just give everyone what they want? The only real drawback is when people use other than default text color, and certain transparent graphics, not knowing what people are using as a skin.....dunno how much that would really matter. Any thoughts on this? Or pledges? The other issue would be Bub's time spent putting navigation/header on each one. Would be great to have a graphic for GC that matched each skin....but we'd need help with that. Dunno, I could go with the 3 or we could entertain this some more. farmerisme February 14, 2007 Share farmerisme Member February 14, 2007 I would just think that we should offer at least one light one and one darker one.
